There are plenty of places where you can buy the exact G8N-1 relays, but I couldn’t find a local UK supplier. I did find a local supplier that listed a direct replacement for the G8N-1 relay, which I received the other day. Unfortunately they were talking ****, and it most certainly isn’t a direct replacement. I’ve ordered the exact part then, which is on its way to me from Germany. Will let you know when it arrives with me. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Right, that’s the replacement relay soldered in. Passenger seat controls all seem fine. Too early to say if this has been “the fix”, so ask me again in a month and I’ll tell you if I’ve had any phantom heated seat moments. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Any news on the relay fix? Are the error messages still popping up on the dash? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nope. Looking good so far. Only been out a few times with the crappy weather, but so far so good. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Same problem, switch seem to be faulty, message shows on the dash, but not worth replacing as the seats don’t heat up until dial is selected to 1,2 or 3.
I’ve done about 300 miles in the car since changing the relay. So far, no phantom heated seats at all. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Resurrecting this post again. As I have this issue with a recently purchased 2005 612. I unplug the wires to the on/off control knob and it disappeared. Wondering if it is the switch itself may be bad and not ECM?
Maybe... I took the switch out at one point then dismantled and cleaned it out with some contact cleaner. I'm sure it did improve things for a while. If you want to replace the switch, then the same one is used on various maserati models.
Hi Robin Old thread I know, but wondered if : 1. Has the problem been fixed permanently? 2. What was the part code/supplier for the relay? Mine both come on intermittently and whilst not being critical, is still annoying! Thanks Neil.
Hi Neil, The fix was long term, but sadly not permenant. The heated seats started coming back on by themselves a few months ago. I thik the issue is the relay for the seat heaters is marginally sized, so its likely to need replaced again. Its quite a quick job though at least, and the part is very cheap. Its an Omron G8N-1 relay: https://www.mouser.co.uk/ProductDetail/Omron-Electronics/G8N-1-DC12SK?qs=GjG5Gl3A4kcQMr2cazn%2FSw%3D%3D There's only one of these on the board, so you cant really screw up. Curious about those who just unplug - which plug specifically? I wouldn't want to unplug something that (a) led to a warning message or (b) stopped me from being able to move the seat about. No issues with low tech solutions if they work though.
Of course I had to come across this thread a little while ago, and now my Cali is exhibiting the same behavior... go figure. I was thinking of doing a battery disconnect for a little bit and go through the battery reconnect process, letting the ecus re-init/re-sync....my battery is in good condition...
