Just noticed the valve in your other thread. Looks like a direct replacement and they have the vacuum nozzle pointing in the right general direction, too. I recall the Capristo points in the wrong direction.

I wonder if it needs the Capristo solenoid valve or does it work with the OEM one? I guess if it's normally closed (with no vacuum), then it will work with the standard solenoid valve.

Gothspeed had the right look (exactly like OEM from the top) a shame it didn’t hold up in the real world. I switched back to Capristo. Really the appearance of the valve is only noticeable on the 2.7 cars as it’s in your line of sight.

$1400 lol that is absolute ridiculousness??

that’s in vicinity of 2% of value of average 355
    for just a valve.

$1000 for capristo was already beyond pushing it.

at max these valves are $200-300 of parts or even less.

i can’t help be beyond annoyed on the prices for these valves.

a set of headers, an exhaust, i can better except the going prices. but not this for valves.

That's the price for the bigger one. The standard one is about $1000 with current exchange rates.

Why not just get rid of the valve and go with a straight pipe like the challenge. I did it 15 years ago and it great.

You had a problem with your Gothspeed? Mine has held up fine and I have one of the first ones.

I sent mine back as it stuck open and jammed. It was updated and returned but I could feel it sticking again after a short while- was still operational though. A friend had purchased an updated one too and the same thing happened, it locked stuck , he sent it back and waited some time for a replacement. Capristo is tried and proven, I went back to it and so did my friend.

I have been also one of the lucky ones (but I can't say I've done any hard driving). I'm not sure which generation it is. At one point, Ricambi stopped selling them (I recall they ran out and couldn't get in touch with Goth). I bought mine shortly after production resumed, but I don't know if it was an updated one.

My '95 was wired open and throwing cell lights. Usually when going down a hill without any accelerator pressure (coasting in gear). Fixed the valve and the cell lights went away.
In another thread I have where I used a Porsche diaphragm attached to the OEM valve.

Interesting. Perhaps a clue to part of the fault logic.

The bypass valve should not cause any faults especially on a 2.7. You have something else going on that changes when you created different pressures in other areas of you exhaust. By eliminating the valve completely, you relieve pressure on the cats and your cats will last a lot longer.

What typically goes bad on the OEM valve - the vacuum actuator or the valve door? For $100, you can pull off the vacuum actuator on one of these new aftermarket valves and retrofit it to the OEM unit.

Those aftermarket valves require a lot more vacuum to open. I have 1 or 2 laying around that I tried plus they are crap quality and not for prolonged intermittent use like the Ferrari bypass. More of a open or close for the day valve
Dozens of others tried and found the same.

But have fun go at it :)

Those of us in So California have the benefit of meeting Goth at our local Stooge events and have him to troubleshoot if there are issues. My bypass is one of the very first (maybe a test one) and has worked flawlessly.

Yup, my Porsche has 2 valves and they works the same way - engine speed, or also the button on the console. I doubt theirs are of dubious quality.
