Can a 430 motor be swapped with a 458 unit?

    ECU, CAN-bus, engine mounts ??

Anything can be done, you only need two things, Time and Money.

There have been a few LS swapped 360's, I'd imagine the fabrication and incorporation process would be similar, however it would probably be cheaper (not to mention more beneficial) just to buy a 458.

I would think swapping a F430 motor into a 360 would be more straight forward since they share the same chassis.

Even then, it wouldn't just be the motor. I would think you would do the entire drive train & wire harness to support it.

I guess the question is why? What are you trying to achieve?

Speed costs money. How fast do you want to go?

I don't have any technical input, but am curious as to why you're thinking of doing the swap. The f430 is a much better looking car, but I'm not sure the f458 engines offer enough of a horsepower increase for the effort to be worth it. Unless you swap the entire drive train and computers for the f458 dual clutch advantages. Personally I like the single clutch in the f430, and chose it over the lightning quick but much more "dentist's car" feel of the dual clutch.

This would be interesting. I wonder if you need to change the transmission since F430 has a single clutch and F458 has a dual clutch.

Have not checked dimensions— but it seems you could install the 458 engine and trans from a wreck into a 360 or 430.

    my check list would be—

    does it fit?

does axle and mm trans mount line up close?

how to handle 458 specific controls?

what part of chassis data system harness needs to work w the 458 engine harness?

are they compatible language? Canbus cs other?

how will traction and stab control be effected by the 458 ? If at all

    list goes on.

I'm sure it could be done, as said, it's only time and money. 458 engine is an evolution of the 430 so dimensions would be the same. Don't know about the gearbox. Adding a manual trans in would be interesting.

Anything is possible, until you set limits. There is at least one (likely more) Dino with a 328 engine and at least one with a 360 Powertrain. The latter was upwards of $1.0M all in, as the story goes.
