I hope this gives already a good idea. The best way to show the colour is with a movie. But I don’t think I can post it here directly from my phone.

I get what you are saying. When I got mine it seemed like just a 488 Spider with a much higher price tag and initially was underwhelming. The defining moment was taking both my 458 Speciale and the Pista Spider to the track for the day and after two sessions in the Speciale moved over to the Pista and it was magical.

The Pista is without a doubt the most capable street car I have ever had on the track. It was Mr Toads Wild Ride on steroids. I could toss it and turn it. Slam on the gas and give full throttle with a side of whiplash and then slam of the brakes while rotating the car through a hairpin. It was unbelievable. The Speciale sat parked and unwanted for the rest of the day.

I was not thrilled after the first 10 mile drive. Then I drove it more and I discovered a few things.

    1. The exhaust will improve sometime in the first 150 miles- is something breaking in? Maybe?

    2. The car is fabulously brutal, but you need the right conditions to experience it- winter is probably not the ideal time, but just wait. Try being pointed straight, 3rd gear, moderate RPM, floor it... prepare to make a mockery of your (now former) sense of speed.

    3. The car is soooo planted. Which is a little bit of a different character than the 458. However, drive it with some zest and you will be rewarded.

    4. Race mode = very hard shifts, but over time you can learn how to smooth them out (mostly by short shifting), I just use race mode for when I feel extra, uh, racy.

For me the Pista has scrambled my notion of what a mid engined V8 is all about. Its really more hypercar than supercar. That's what I would have said about the 458 relative to the 430... the game moves on....

Ever since I got my Pista, I've been walking right past my 458, I can't get enough of driving it. Its such an amazing car! To be fair, maybe some of that is the sheer newness, so we will need to see how things go over a longer period, but, wow, you could really have both, because they are their own unique characters.

Congratulations on your new Spider, she's a beauty!
