Contact fchat sponsor Longstone , they usually know when Michelin are going to make the next batch of TRX tyres https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/classic-car-tyres/ferrari/testarossa.html
Wow that’s great news for me So now I need to change rims Can someone please tell me What rim I need to buy that Would go right on without any Modification for a US tire
I posted a pic of rims that I think would work Anyone recognize those rims in the pic ? I guess I’m one of the 125 85tr’s imported into the US with metric rims
You're going to need a standard spline rim that was on US imported Testarossa. Do a search on Ebay or contact ricambi and ferrparts. Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Someone out there has a new set sitting around I’m willing to pay up ! 280/45/415 Thanks for the responses !
I know this isnt a fix but this is the reason I went to 512 wheels. Updates the car and nice tires always there. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
No, the point that he was making is that even 16" tires are getting scarce so putting 18" 5-lug 512TR wheels on a 5-lug TR gives more tire options. I think I recall someone making (or thinking about making) some custom 18" single-lug wheels for a BB/BBi or single-lug TR, but they were pricey -- have you done some searching in this section?
Find 4 rims that are US spec ... some tires still around. The TRX are gone , dare I say forever. You can store them once you take them off the car. The US spec single bolt is your only real alternative ( size wise ). Careful with going 17 inch and the thinner rubber, you risk potential bent rim, and bubble tires. Also, the 17 seems to be a much firmer ride, you risk it potentially being to big and vibrate as well at higher speeds. Maybe someone can chime in to help out on the 17s as option I find you can’t find a 16 US spec song bolt rim Good luck
I didn't think a US 16" single bolt rim set would be hard to find. I'm sure the dismantlers I mentioned would have a few sets around. Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I will definitely keep the original tires and rims.. wish I didn’t need to remove them Come on who has some some 280/45/415 Someone out there is hoarding a pair Willing to pay up!
Spacers and longer bolts and you are golden! Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Im sorry, I didn’t realize you were a single bolt TR. it wont work. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Thanks sounds easy this is my first Ferrari I can’t even think about doing anything involving my wheels myself... This car needs to go back to malvern PA Where the service was just done Wheels probably haven’t been removed in 20 years it’s not that easy!
Your issue is it was a tailor made tire at the time, by Goodyear.. I used to have the phone numbers into Goodyear but at this point they should be picking them up as a Racing/Vintage product, which is a different distributor chain than normal retail. Stu Grant....find him....LOL!
Welcome to TR ownership first of all and condolences on your father. There have been LOTS of owners go down the "custom wheel" path, with variable rsults. IIRC Boyd Coddington even made a set before he died. They were nice and worked well (maybe the ones in your picture)…. You may want to consider abandoning the center spline but if you can get to 16" that will help. Moorespeed in Austin TX converted a Boxer from center spline to 5 lug wheels. Same set up as the early TR, or very close.
