From the Gooding & Co. website:
    https://www.goodingco.com/vehicle/1980-ferrari-308-gt4/

"Ferrari expert Marcel Massini confirmed the delivery details of this GT4, which is a non-catalyst, European Series II model and the 29th-to-last 308 GT4 built. In addition to the more powerful European-specification engine, features include power windows, air-conditioning, Becker Europa II radio, and rear seats. Completed February 14, 1980, it was delivered new to French Ferrari importer Automobiles Charles Pozzi SA in Paris, sold to Armand Benaud, and subsequently exported to the US and owned by former Ferrari dealer Auto Torino of Great Neck, New York. Well preserved and presented with just 42,500 km on the odometer at the time of cataloguing, it earned the coveted Platinum Award honors at the 26th Annual FCA Cavallino Classic in 2017. Proven on the concours lawn, this exceptional 308 GT4 retains its matching-numbers engine and also benefits from a recent inspection and service performed in 2019. Simply put, it stands proudly among the finest examples now available of this groundbreaking and increasingly sought-after Ferrari model."

Saw the car there, looked pretty closely at it. Indeed a fine example. I needed to see some details for my build. Surprised at the price, pleasantly. Costs me a few bucks since I saw some things I must now do. Wish I had preserved the trunk carpet, but mine was deteriorated a little too much to use against the new stuff that's in it.l

At the end the buyer has to spend some more money for the correct color. The car came Marrone originally...

Tough call on the color. I'm against resale red in general, but I think this car would have sold for less if it was still the original brown color.

I agree . that's what I meant. the myth of Red being a Ferrari color has people mislead.

    :) sadly true

Though in this case the auction house was providing with Mr. Massini report, so i guess buyer wanted it in red yes or yes

Anyway it is what it is, congrats to seller :)

    Nice GT4.
I don't think the colour change is a big deal, the delivery colour was noted in the books and a colour change isn't relevant for Classiche if thats something the new owner wants. It's also won a Platinum at Cavallino Classic in 2017, that's 97 points or more.

It’s funny that original color is so important for what were relatively high volume production cars in their time when there are many rare and insanely expensive Ferrari’s out there with color changes that do not impair desirability or value.

I am not a fan of red on any car because it does not show the lines of the car well in my opinion but I still think that was a very good car for the money regardless of color.

Very nice. I bought a very similar GT4 from Al at Naples Classic Car about a year and a half ago. Mine is a 1975 euro also with rear seat delete. Knowing these cars I would say it was fairly bought. Naples invests a large sum of $ to get these right--usually around a 100K depending on condition. I paid a little less than the 125k and I didn't have to pay any auction fees. I've also won Gold at Concorso Italiano and San Marino Motor Classic last year. Car was judged by Ferrari Club of America. These Naples GT4's are some of the best.

Forgot to mention in my previous post that GT4's are judged in the 206/246 Dino class not in the 308/328 class. Pretty tough competition for a GT4 so if one gets an award it really has to earn it against the classic Dino's.
