    456M GTA with OBDII code P0600 and P0102 then goes into limp mode:

    Bought the car a year ago, 456m GTA, 1999. Everything is in good running condition. Recently when car gets to operating temperature about 90 degress C. It will go into limp mode, stuck in 2 or 3 gear then won't shift up, also very violent shake in reverse or to D. With OBDII. Scanner the code P0600, P0102 was shown. I know the 0102 is the MAF, where. Would I be able to get a pair of aftermarket replacement for a good price, my friend used them on their Mercedes and BMWs for years, I was told they are just as reliable as the factory but only for a fraction of the price. But as for the P0600 serial Communication Link, that I am totally lost, don't know where to start, only happens when the car gets warm, puts itself into limp mode, once turn off cool down for 30 mins is perfect again. The ASR light would come on because of that. For the past 2 months this would happen every time when it reaches around 90 C. Very fustrating, only when car is warmed. Otherwise is perfect, checked the transmission, nothing was wrong.......please help...

    Would recommend reading this : P0600 - OBD II Code

    These OBD2 codes are standarized and in the Mercedes Benz world they also have secondary codes to pinpoint the source of problem :

    P0600-001 CAN Fault : Fault in CAN communication with control unit ESP (ASR)
    P0600-003 CAN Fault : Fault in CAN communication with control unit FTC (transmission module)
    P0600-004 CAN Fault : Fault in CAN communication with control unit IC
    P0600-009 CAN Fault : Fault in CAN communication with control unit ESM (solenoid to unlock "Park" on automatic transmission)
    P0600-013 CAN Fault : Control Module ESP is in the diagnosis mode, or there is a system fault

    I would check the ASR-system and transmission moduls and connections first. Hope this helps.

    Here is info I found about your problem:

    P0102 = mass or volume air flow circuit low input
    You have a problem with the mass air flow sensor.

    P0600 = Serial communication link
    The ECM did not detect communication between modules
    Possible causes - ECM harness, ECM connectors, low battery voltage, faulty ECM

    Would you mind sharing how you fixed it? I am encountering ASR gearbox light issue.

    The fix was only for the mistyping of the fault code, not the fault itself.
    Mods are good but not THAT good!
