Brian failed to also mention the all time leaders, wipers and filters (cabin & air). Just take your car to any dealership for service and they recommend these along with the oil change. ;)

Hourly rate, how quaint a concept. No one uses it, some just say they do. Just like every other business, bills are based on market rate....period.

Big jobs have big liabilities and not very good profit. If the owner isn't local and I don't have a chance of doing regular jobs for them, In other words they just want a major by someone who knows what they are doing I won't even bid the job. I turn away motor overhauls too unless it is a regular customer. I take all the liabilities, I take in a bunch of money and pay most of it back out. Not a business plan that leads to anything good.

Oh don’t worry, he’ll spew out something else nasty in some future post of his. Especially if he has a chance to aim it at me. He’s been doing it for years. He can’t stand any of my posts, because according to him all my DIY threads are “stupidity cloaked as wisdom”. Thing is, run a search on how to fix something on your 348, or heck ANY Ferrari for that matter, and see if you find 1 single how-to thread posted by Brian, complete with detailed instructions and pictures, JUST ONE.
Unshared wisdom is dead wisdom, it only benefits the one who possesses it, and disappears once that person dies. To selfishly keep that wisdom to one’s self and not share it with the world so that society can be informed and knowledgeable, now that truly is what you can call stupidity.

I want to comment that I have zero experience on repairing any vehicle, let alone a Ferrari.

With Ernie's help and guidance, I was able to do these two major repairs:

    1) remove clutch, remove throw out bearing, replace seals (I made a detailed DIY thread on that process to help the next guy up)

    2) engine out service, following Ernie's very detailed thread on how to do a 348 engine out.

Ernie has assisted countless 348 owners.

I think it's quite obvious that it was extreme, unnecessary, and mostly incorrect to attack him. His threads are not idiocy, I would say they are on the contrary.

Ernie and FBB are the Aristotle and Socrates of the 348 world. Unsurpassed depth of knowledge, and willingness to teach the ignorant hoards.

I have only done a few of my own engine out services and it seems every time I find something else that should be fixed at the time. Brackets that have cracked for plugs, slight oil leaked sometimes, -lugs that need to be cleaned even though they are working, so although this is interesting if driving the car 2 to 4 thousand a year there all ways seems to be something that would not get noticed if the engine was not out and would let me down.
I like it for piece of mind.
I do however agree that at some point the resale will suffer and all though I don’t really car I might if that time ever comes.

I do understand what your saying I just would do it the old fashion way which I was well aware of when I bought it
