I'm really looking forward to seeing the challenge version of this car, and the lightweight street one, too.
The F8 is supposed to be the last non hybrid car on this platform, so no special series street car. Little brother is next...
I saw the F8 in person and test drove it. The lexan window looks very cheap and it was already bluish discolored on the test drive car. It will also most likely scratch very easily. I like the F8 and ordered it but am considering cancelling because of the damn lean window. It looks horrible, flimsy, cheap, and it will cause nothing but trouble. I wish Ferrari would give us the option between lexan and clear glass with no slots in it. It looks so much better on the 488 or Pista.
Yes, the Lexan is sooo distorted, and it will scratch easily. Way too easily. The vented idea is fine, but that damn warped plastic window is in the way of me ordering an F8.
I agree. No lexan window on the Spider. I considered it but it is $30k more base and you will have to wait even longer to get one.
I love how it looks, but when I drove it I noticed it vibrating quite a bit in the mirror. I wondered how it would age. The dealer told me you can spec it in gorilla glass for a boatload of $.
Lexan windows have always been the purview of special models like the F40 LeMans or the Challenge Stradale and not regular models. A skeptic might think that Ferrari committed to buy a lot of Lexan rear windows and were going to use them on a F8 VS and later offer them as an option on the F8. However circumstances like the never ending Pista and Spider version's protracted production run ran out the clock on a F8 VS. The funky Lexan window became the standard window for the F8 and thus relatively large numbers would be consumed and all that tooling cost would not be lost.
Agreed saw it in person and it looks like it's easily prone to scratches. Would need to clear bra the Lexan to prevent scratches and that may be impractical due to the engine heat and distortion of rear visibility.
Are you saying that you can spec it with gorilla glass with the slots or glass like on the 488 or Pista?
Numerous discussions on this and the consensus is that there will be no F8 special edition. little brother is next.
I see. I'd be willing to bet they'd make a challenge/lightweight model. The desire to profit is a powerful feeling.
It is, but according to the GM of my local dealership, the 458 / 488 platform is done with the Pista Spider. He was pretty sure about it during our conversation 2 days ago. I bet Ferrari is now focused and looking forward to get the profits from the $750k SF90 Stradale coming out this summer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
and they aren’t going to profit from a 750k sf90 or a v6 hybrid or the 812 GTS or the Monza? Again this topic has been heated to death but almost a dozen cars on the 458 platform. You now have GPF requirements for all future cars. Ferrari is moving to hybridization- etc etc. no f8vs. It’s done with the F8 which will be the last non hybrid Ferrari V8 ever.
