Because the factory fire extinguisher in 360/430 are made in Italy with OMP, I am having difficulty finding a shop that can refresh and recharge my oem unit.

    Where have others gone?

It’s not easy or nearly impossible to ship an extinguisher that is pressurized via fedex, ups etc...

    Help

Is it halon or halotron? If so you might drive your car to a small-ish local airport that has some services and help for pilot owned planes and check with a shop there. Airplanes don't mess around with safety and if you need to be safe they may have an answer for you.

This is just a standard 2 kg dry powder unit, what needs doing to it ? The powder is standard stuff - does it still have its gas charge ? Odd no one will look at it as nothing special.

I tried for months to recharge mine and had zero luck. The part resellers in Europe would not ship to me and no one in the U.S. would recharge it for me. In the end I had to buy a new one from FNA. All bad news I am afraid.

So I’m guessing it’s now a collectible to keep with the toolbox for the car in the man cave and I need to buy a similar diameter modern unit to go back in the car...

Original from 2002. It no longer has a gas charge showing on the gauge.

By the way if you are recharging it in case you might need to use it, don't. It is ABC and you want Halon. IF you ever do use the factory extinguisher will ruin electrical wires and trash the car. I replaced mine as it heading into the FCA Concours this last November. Double check my facts here as I am 99% but do your own research too please.

Replaced mine with Halon. Cylinder was slightly larger, so I put extenders in the OEM clamps. Had leather cover made. Worked out well.

Halon, is it still legal for private use in USA?
In my part of the world. Halon for private use is forbidden since year 1991.

I have an black OMP extinguisher with AFFF foam, instead of ABC powder.

Was it difficult to find a place to make the custom leather cover?

Yes, Halon is still available in the USA. New Halon sales is banned, most that is sold is reclaimed from existing units. For example a restaurant goes out of business, they go in and take all the Halon tanks and are legally able to resell it. I have bought brand new fire extingishers filled with reclaimed Halon.
