Are all 308s equipped with lacquered Connolly leather? I do have the Leatherique products somewhere in the garage. I remember buying them years ago. Probably still good.

the 348 spider I just bought had some really hard and dry leather (black). I literally went through 3/4 of a 32 OZ bottle of Leatherique on the car over a 5 day period. Applying and reapplying the rejuvenator and letting it sit in the 85 degree fla sun. The softness improved, but I was honestly expecting better results especially after 5 days and basically ideal conditions. I'll keep working on it but the whole premise of a water based product permeating and softening a sprayed on lacquer finish doesn't make a lot of sense.

Its like the notion of using pledge on wood furniture thinking one is conditioning the wood. If the furniture is sealed with a lacquer or and oil based polyurethane finish nothing including pledge gets through seal coat to reach the actual wood.

It's ashame these car get beat up so much. The leather lasts fine if you know how to get in and out of the car. Advantage of being an original owner I guess. I've treated mine maybe 2 or 3 time in 35 years with Lexol or what ever the stuff was. PeP Boys special.

Leatherique worked fine on the leather of my '89 GTB, but it took more time that I was led to believe it would for it to start having the desired effect; I would say, about five years, applying it three times a year, before one day I said to myself: "Now this is staring to look how I would like it to look"; when I had the car appraised in 1985 (for insurance purposes) the expert - a previous Ferrari specialist - was surprised at how good the leather looked and asked me how it was done and with what. He mentioned the "exceptional aspect of the leather" in the appraisal report.
