I wonder if someone stole the engine for another project or the engine exploded or what...

No real info. This is the entire post on CL.

    Good day All,

This reminded me of an old thread about a very similar car where the owner was going to sell the original engine and replace it with a Chevy transplant. The pictures also look very similar. As I recall I think the chevy transplant never went ahead. Sadly I was unable to find the thread, but I will keep looking. If they are the same car then this would certainly explain the missing engine.

    Cheers,

    Sam

<edit> Found the thread I was thinking about:

    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/need-an-engine.370854/#post-141522581

    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/need-an-engine.370854/page-2#post-142422718

And the start of the thread:

    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/need-an-engine.370854/

So there is a good chance that this ar is Chassis 45099 (VIN: ZFFFB06B000045099)

    Cheers,

Good chance? That's absolutely it. Even some of the same pics.

What a messed up story? That Stuart guy should be flogged for ruining that car.

    What a shame .

    Good day All,

I thought I would create a thread on a Craigslist ad offering a 1983 Ferrari 400i Convertible with a missing engine and possibly other items?

    https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/d/sebastopol-red-ferrari-convertible-for/7430873029.html

I e-mailed the seller for the chassis number, however, perhaps someone here may know the car?

    Cheers,

    Sam

    Good day David,

Thank you! I thought it looked familiar, but after searching a bit I was unable to find anything. I will ask the moderator to add this to the original thread to keep all posts in one spot.

    Thanks again!

    Cheers,

    Sam
