When my friends who can afford a Ferrari, but sit on the fence, ask me about getting a Ferrari I send them this video:
Very valid points and true on many fronts for many. Let me offer up a different perspective. I'm sure some others here can relate, but I didn't get college paid for nor graduate from a prestigious school. I had to work through school to pay for college and everything else. I started off selling products door to door. Worked my tail off with the drive to succeed. Being an immigrant, I didn't exactly have doors open for me. A very different era. I feel like the current generation actually has more opportunities with the proliferation of technology.
Wow, I bought mine a week ago and I am out $4k already??? I guess if you never plan to sell, it is a moot point!
I worked as a bartender to get through college. I call it my $50k trivia. I opened a daycare center, closed it after 4 years. I started a promotion business renting racetracks and putting on events, economy made it untenable. Opened an auto repair shop, started buying rental houses. No privilege here, just hard work. I am gracious with people who are interested in the car, but apologize to no one for EARNING the privilege of buying and owning one.
Never feel guilty or the need to justify financial success, especially if it was achieved with ambition, persistence, ingenuity and hard work. Life is not binary or a zero sum game. Achieving financial wealth does not deprive another of their opportunity to do likewise. On the contrary, it frequently creates economic opportunity for others. Enjoy the fruits of your labor with pride and a great sense of accomplishment.
Purchasing a regular production exotic is an imprudent financial decision. However, life involves many decisions not predicated on economic return, but rather are based upon the enhancement of the enjoyment of life. Spending hundreds of dollars on a meal at a restaurant, or going on an expensive holiday both involve hefty expenditures with no financial upside. But their indulgence is undertaken for nothing more than the joy they provide.

It WAS a different era Mike. I know a dentist who was an immigrant and he had to change his last name so he could get accepted into a dental school. Yes, he faced discrimination like most immigrants, but instead of playing the victim card, they just worked even harder to get ahead and most did.
Yep. That's why I don't feel guilt about success or feel sorry for those who are not. Everyone has an opportunity to succeed, especially in this country.
First Ferrari, many BMW And Porsches. This car is something special. My 458 just affirms that countless hours of hard work has been rewarded. I never get out of car without giving thanks. Drive and avg of 1000 miles a month.
You got it right. If every purchase were an ROI calc then the economy would be negative 100%. Disposable income should bring joy beyond watching the bank balance grow.
