Its a continuum. CS is skewed toward the extreme feel / toy end of the spectrum. 458s are more modern in design and skewed toward appliance end of spectrum. All relative of course. 458 still a great car, plenty of cars that have less feel and character than a 458. First world problem indeed. But if you love the CS I would imagine a 458 is a bit of a let down. If you are tired of the CS and want something more relaxed the 458 makes sense. Seriously considered 458 myself. Ended up with a Scud which I guess is somewhere in between but Id personally have a CS over 458 today. Can always find a 458, CS (and Scuds) are hard and getting harder to find good examples. Don’t sell unless you are sure.
Or dead. To feel anything in the newer cars you have to be going so fast that it’s extremely dangerous on country roads etc. The CS is perfect. It’s raw, fast enough, and you feel everything at 70 mph.
if you are serious, mine has high mile and a bit worn - not a collector specimen. (relatively) slow these days compared to whats out there. I guess I'm a bit spoiled and now have a 7-year itch.
any pics? As a price reference, I would sell my 458 for about $180k. 2013, 13k miles, free service until 22 June 2020, cpo warranty until July 2021. Was working with another F chatter but he sold his CS out right. There’s another one at a dealer in NC but I have a feeling I’ll get dealer raped.
Adam Carollas Old CS on eBay with salvage title. I didn’t know it had been wrecked after someone bought it a while back. Sorry if this has already been discussed here. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2004-Ferrari-360-Challenge-Stradale/362874539736?hash=item547d020ed8:g:RFMAAOSwMjBdPftZ
Looks like someone replaced the rear lexan. Used to have a custom built carbon air scoop and holes in the lexan. Edit: Should have read the ad before commenting, it mentions the lexan.
thanks for sharing ... totally agree that the gearbox does show it's age; but driving this thing gives you a visceral pleasure that's hard to describe
Driving in city traffic at low rpm yes the gearbox can seem slow. At high rpm I don’t think it’s slow at all.
I liked this post, but I think F40 owners might quibble with that (But I've seen posts here from folks that have owned both stating that they put those two at the top, just maybe not in the order your post infers!)
agree with everything he said. He gets it. (this video has done the most damage to my "what the heck was I thinking when i sold it" mindset of anything since I sold my CS after 7+ years of ownership)
