Of course we are. It's a belt thread. It's always an argument. If we all owned Corvettes be would be arguing timing chains and how chain stretch effect cam timing.
The Water Pump is also a concern. If that wasn't changed on the last service, then it's as old as the car. 21 years old. Just saying.
Here is an interesting article I have read . soon I will decide how and when to proceed with the major service. (https://www.ferraris-online.com/pages/article.php?reqart=SCM_200702_SS).
I hate it when people start talking about how a Ferrari isn't a Toyota or a Honda when discussing belt life. Yes, a Ferrari engine is not like a Toyota or Honda or...., but the belts used on Ferraris are not like the belts used in Toyotas, Hondas, or ..... either. I've 10 years on my 308 belts, 7 on my 355. And when it comes to water pumps, 35 yrs on the 308, an no record of a wp change on the 355, so somewhere between 7 and 25 yrs.
I have an original water pump and yes 21 years old with no issue. When I decided to drop the engine most chances are that I may not touch it I am almost sure that water pump can be replaced by dropping the gas tank. If brake down. Sent from my SM-G955W using FerrariChat.com mobile app
But saying it again, if you track the car and redlining it constantly or treating it like a stolen car then I would probably pay attention to all opinions here at ferrarichat and panic to do the service every 3 yrs Sent from my SM-G955W using FerrariChat.com mobile app
And the alternator belt is from 2005 even. Did they use old parts last time they serviced it lol? Scary situation in all aspects when you really think about it. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Volkswagen recommends replacing the belt on their TDI's at 100K miles. When I removed the old one it still looked new, and that is driving year round through winters and summer. Now, if there were any oil leaks or other outside influences than a failure would be almost certain. But I will still keep my belt replacement interval at 7 yrs on my 355 for piece of mind. Also, the belt materials of today are much better than the ones that were fitted in our cars from the factory.
you Don’t drive the car beyond 6500 rpm in 3rd, hahaha, live a little man! That is what the car was built for!
