It'll be ironic if Hurts makes it back into the playoffs and his old team doesn't!

It would be good for a change to have a playoff with 4 conference champions, which is probably what will happen.

I suspect the final order will be: 1. LSU, 2. Ohio State, 3. Clemson, 4. Oklahoma. Personally, I would put Clemson ahead of OSU, but I don't think that will happen. And the top 2 will probably wind up playing for the title.

As for the coveted spot in the big bowl games for the lesser conference teams, I think that Memphis will beat out Boise State and Appalachian State for that slot.

OSU should hold the top spot. UGA didn’t show up today and Wisconsin did. OSU’s record/stats against ranked opponents is better than LSU. Hoping for LSU and OSU in championship - those are the two best teams.

Just to show how tough the SEC is: the Gators' early recruiting class today was ranked 8th in the country.....and only 6th in their own conference! The only non-SEC schools ranked ahead of them were (surprise!) Clemson and Ohio State. As the saying goes, the strong get stronger.....

And that is why it is a stupid idea to expand the playoffs to more than 4 teams.

That's debatable if you saw Clemson play the last half of the season.
And don't forget both Ohio State and LSU played a couple of bad games, too,
    but still won.

LSU is going to absolutely demolish whomever wins this OSU/Clemson game.

The #4 seed was never worthy of a playoff bid this season. Only the top 3 looked good and as of right now Clemson looks terrible.

I don't watch CFB, but checked out the games since we're visiting with our friends and they're fan. LSU looked awesome. Clemson will need to play better to have a chance...T

Considering that the semifinal games over the years have tended to be blowouts (like yesterday's opener), that second game was a humdinger once Clemson woke up - 3 lead changes in the second half, and either team could have won.

We know one thing for sure now: the Tigers will be the national college football champs! :D :D

    It looks that way.
The thing is, what I saw in LSU was a team in complete and total sync like you RARELY ever see.
Guys are where they should be, when they should be, and the ball is THERE, you just don't see
that but once in a generation, none of the Alabama teams ever showed it quite like this, and I don't
recall any Miami teams from 15 years ago, just, none really, not passing games like this.

Meh, I don't think I agree with that, they are rated where they should be, they just didn't play
that great, but granted, it was against a really good team. They looked a helluva lot better than Oklahoma...

Probably because we are tired of them winning all the time, and some of the players
beating their chests over a less-powerful opponent?
I respect the team, I respect most all teams, but what I don't like is seeing the SAME teams
playing the SAME game, every year. I grew tired of watching certain teams dominate, I mean,
it's OK for a year or two, I like watching a well-oiled machine operate, I just grew tired of ALWAYS
seeing Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Oregon, Ohio State, I LIKE seeing programs go up and down,
and back up, turning things around, watching them improve of a few seasons....

Oh - my two favorites teams are: whoever is playing Texas, and whoever is playing Notre Dame... LOL

They're overrated because they were saying they should have been the #1 team this season (as they do every season it seems) and they always underperform. You'd think they were Alabama until you saw how many championships they've won the last 20 years compared to what they tell you.

OSU fans talked a lot of crap about Florida in 2006 and then they got destroyed 41-14. Michigan - OSU and the "game of the century" and all that overrated Big 10 stuff. They still do it...

Clemson was gifted the game by the Zebras. Appalling officiating.

Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne would have found a way no matter what. The top SEC crew was calling the game. They called it like they saw it. Fields threw two interceptions and Chase Young was kept in check by Jackson Carmen.

Embarrassing win for the Gators. The Gators' defense looked pathetic and their offense again had troubles rushing other than in the opening score. The Virginia defense failed to intercept gimmes as well. I'm surprised they ended up winning.

Perhaps, but in the long run, none of that will matter. A win is a win.

With a LSU giving 5.5 points, no way would I pick against them. Clemson may give them trouble but LSU is a more complete team with an unstoppable QB and stud RB who got needed rest in the blowout and should be good to go after the 16 day break.
