The guy is first and foremost an investor with a passion for motorsport. If Daimler says that they are not interested in having a full-fledged F1 team anymore, he won't think for a minute what would be his next move.

Even though having Hamilton and Toto Wolff as a boss in Maranello might sound absurd, I believe it would be awesome.

I really do hope Hamilton join Ferrari and land a WDC. Then it’ll settle the debate once and for all. but alas with LeClerc signed up for the long term, I can’t see this happening. So Hamilton will always be the one that’s statistically greatest due to the brilliance of the car.

Most likely LeCerc will be supported by a younger no. 2 when the time comes. Will not be anyone of the top drivers currently such as Riccardo etc. unless they want to be the no. 2 driver

With limited testing, and driver input limited by that, 90% car per engineers - how does a pilot win with a lesser car? You need the right car and the ability to maximize the potential of it. Period. If you cannot then you are Bottas or Vettel in a good car.

That ability to make it work for you when its not optimal for you, is the key. In equal machinery that DRIVER difference matters. Just ask Bottas or Vettel. They are in good cars and the other 'guy' is simply better/smoother and maybe a touch lucky with mechanical durability ..................Oh........minimal MISTAKES! :)

    Agree.

Bottas P2 in WDC in the best car.

Verstappen P3 in WDC in the third best car.

With some decent team management and performance consistancy Charles can be P1 in WDC.

Hence it doesn’t make him the greatest. Only top of the bunch for now.

Those that have pulled a whole team together from the bottom or won driving a sub standard car will be seen as the greatest irrespective of statistical results. Those that have odds stacked against them and come good.

Schumacher won many times in an inferior car.
Lewis has also, but nobody here wants to hear that.

So many factors are in play for good performance. The continued reference to 'greatest' is useless when comparing era vs the driver or drivers. We have many talents on the grid. Some just are faster in equal machinery vs a team mate.

    Hmm.. I disagree..
A lot was said during Schumacher years that he’s only the most successful driver, not one of the greats. Only after his departure from Ferrari one can see how the team had struggled. This slowly but surely has turned the perception and significance of his achievements.

Hamilton has to have done something such as this to cement his legacy.

Hamilton to Ferrari, is simply so not going to happen.

All of Hamilton's success has been with Mercedes-Benz's backing. The company fully realizes
the relationship and will extend him a lifetime contract to carry on as brand ambassador, perhaps
set him up with a dealership or two, etc. for his years beyond racing.

Hamilton would be a fool to leave the Mercedes-Benz fold to join Ferrari where (clearly) Leclerc is
    the future.

Hamilton needs a second tier driver as a teammate-LeClerc new contract tells us that he is the future and won’t play second fiddle to anyone.

Hamilton has already done enough to cement his legacy. Mclaren hasn't won a race since he left. No he does'nt have to do it with team building as Schumi did, all greats do it thier own way

Unless Ferrari fields a car as competitive as the one from 2018, Hamilton won't win anything with Ferrari in 2021, and even then, he would still have to beat his younger and hungrier teammate.

Clearly they have to build something around Charles for the coming years.
Hiring Hamilton makes no sense considering that.
First and foremost they have to build a competitive car.

They got Charles for (relative) peanuts. Locked in.

Lewis talks was a negotiation tactic. Wake up everyone.

Hungrier?? Who's more hungry than a driver looking to beat the all-time World Championship roster? No wonder you're a forum jockey.

Road and Track had an article titled "Best Driver beats Best Car" from the early days when Shumacheer was at Ferrari in a car needing serious development.

Who’s hungrier? The 21 year-old who just signed a five year contract for comparatively nothing in an effort to win his first world championship with the most illustrious F1 team.

Come to New York. We’ll go karting and we’ll see who the forum jockey is. Maybe I’ll even let you ride in the Mustang, if you can behave yourself.
