I haven't (yet) had the opportunity (or misfortune, LOL ;)) of bringing an F-car to the dealer for service, so I was curious. Do authorized dealers provide owners with a "loaner" or "courtesy" car while their car is in the shop? And if so, is it another Ferrari, Maser, or "other"?

    The dealers I know don't.

They consider a Ferrari an extra car and not your main means of transport.

Maserati customers sometimes get a rental car depending on the service involved.

I heard that some dealers were supposed to get Fiat 500 Abarth's a while back.

Mine doesn't-- and I think that's sort of funny. Fortunately, they're not far from a light rail station.

They do if you're a Maserati customer, I believe. At least they used to.

Mine gave me a ride home in a pickup truck when I dropped it off, but I had to find my own way back to pick it up. The Lexus dealer gives me a 2009 RX350 to use for the day if the service takes longer than two hours.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, on that particular trip, the bill was approximately $4,500.

You could try showing up in a Lambo T shirt and threaten to hang around the show room until the work is done :)

I've gotten a ride in that pickup truck too! Not all the way home, though.

Maybe with FIAT's presence in the American marketplace now, a FIAT 500 or maybe an old Volare engineering car, they may have found, when they turn things over and take an inventory of what they bought from Chrysler's Engineering Dept., or at the Proving Grounds, at Chelsea.

Chrysler owned Lamborghini too, and an old Countach or Diablo, may turn up as a "Barn Find!"

    Ciao...Paolo

Resurrecting this thread, but my dealer gave me a Toyota Camry while my 458 is getting routine service.
Sounds like a loaner is the exception rather than the rule, which was somewhat surprising to me.
Porsche would typically give a Cayenne as a loaner, and Audi (for an r8) would give an a5.

 Oh man... I shouldn't laugh, but getting a Camry after dropping off a 458 is quite a difference. o_O

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Did the Toyota loaner have decals saying: “Loaner/courtesy of Ferrari of ....”. That would be funny. Lol

They usually are trying to sell me the next car, so I’ve had various Ferraris when I’ve dropped them off, and recently, a few times it’s been a Maserati Levante or a ghibli..... still trying to sell me one!

I believe the main reason they don’t give loaners is the indefinite time these cars can sit at the dealer. Even routine stuff can get hung up in the service chain.

I was given a loaded Quattroporte as a loaner for a month, and now I can say with confidence that the only reason for the Quattroporte's existence is to instill a profound sense of regret in former S class owners.
