Hi all, I’m helping a friend purchase a 1989 Ferrari TR originally sold in France now in Canada. I myself am not well versed in Ferrari’s. Does anyone recognize this VIN? We would love more history on this car.

    ZFFSA17S000079010

    Thanks in advance.

"S" VIN is either Swiss or Sweden. I don't think it originally sold in France.

Another useful thing to know is the engine family (as this will describe the engine configuration) -- shown on the small cast plaque on top of the engine block at cyl #6. Should be something like "F113B" or "F113B000" or "F113A040" or "F113B069", etc.. Here's an example:

I don't remember any testarossa having a even number vin. Get a photo of the vin number.

At a SN of 75000, Ferrari went to using both odd and even SNs for the road cars so:

early TR before SN 75000 = odd SN only

later TR after SN 75000 = odd and even SNs like this one

I think until SN 75000 all 12 cylinder street cars had an odd SN ?

All Ferrari's except Dinos and race cars had odd numbers prior to 75000.

#75000 was by the way a Testarossa.

Assuming there was only one 75000. With Ferrari you never know.

I once have been told by a F technician working at zender that only the 12 cylinder street cars had odd numbers. but after I have read your post here I checked a little in my books and found you are right. thx for teaching :)

I suggest contacting member Carbon McCoy on this site, he maintains a pretty extensive database--filled in some gaps in my cars history. His screen name is 134282
