The cams were dialed in with degree wheel, the assembly marks were almost spot on, a fraction off.

I didn’t perform the timing though, I wanted that done by an expert tech. He also installed the cam covers, so here’s hoping it’s bone dry when it’s running and no leaks from the cam covers.

It is a mystery to me why anybody would waste time looking at online smut when there are threads like this to feast your eyes on...:p

I don't think I could bring myself to put that engine back in the car.

I would have that rolled up to my office where I could stare at it all day.

    Wow.....

I know, it’s better than I dreamed it would turn out. I have researched for years and documented a lot of restorations and original cars to enable me to produce this result. Whilst it is a shame it all won’t be seen I know it’s been done and I love driving it, hopefully even more so now it’s properly sorted in every area.

Elliott has the only Ferrari engine which requires sunglasses to look at

Bold words. A 355 is only as good as its weakest link. I think I can smell a resistor burning in your suspension ECU :p

Are companies that vapor blast hard to find or can most media blast places do that?

I googled it and found someone local. I suggest that for you. It is not a dark art and a lot of people do it here now. There are also a lot of sandblasting cabinet videos that show how to convert it to wet blaster for a similar finish.

Bravo, I am in total admiration! Did you take the motor down to the piston rings? If you did a complete head job including valves are you concerned that the valves will seal so tight that they will push oil into the cylinder, resulting in a burning oil condition..? I have always been told this, one must come with the other but I have never experienced it myself.

This is the best and cleanest 355 restoration i've seen or heard of! Truly work of art. This deserves a trophy or actually a gold medal.

Elliott, good to find you on F-Chat here :D

I replaced the one way check valves as they were badly heat soaked and brittle, also the T connector snapped like a twig so that was replaced with new. New coolant sensors and started to run the vacuum lines.

I need to source a 3 way Y connector for the evaporator line on the intake as the one on it was snapped and discovered on removal.

    Today made some big progress.

Installed the wiring harness as I had removed it all to reboot and repair the heat shielding in parts. It was a bit of a pain to get it right, thankfully I had another 95 Berlinetta next to it to reference some wiring and it’s correct orientation. Now all the boots are new and will protect the wiring and connections as well as look the part.

Was it difficult figuring out which connectors to install on which fuel injectors or did everything fall into place? I had to go to the wiring diagrams and buzz out the wiring when I installed my new harness.

The harness has numbers on the injector plugs so you know which one goes where.

Did you red loctite that impeller nut, or did it have a safety washer (with the little bent tang)? It's a bit of safety. (I did mine when I did the curved alloy impeller pump in my 348)
