Does the power steering pump require replacement when only the hose connection is leaking? I've been told the pump needs replaced but it seams like a waste when it's just the crimped clamp section that appears to be at fault. I have a brand new Ferrari PS pump on my shelf but would rather install it when the pump fails, not just because of a small leak

It all depends on who or whom is telling you to change it.
I would be at odds to change the pump if it is a dealer.
If it's your wife telling you to change the pump - Say yes Dear, and change it or you are going to hear about it for the rest of your marriage.
Window won't go down? You will hear - "I told you to change that pump"!

I have never replaced one of those pumps. I have replaced many of the hoses under it.

I appreciate the replies. If the Fiancé had any opinion on the PS pump I would be totally shocked, haha. That being said if there is any inconvenience to be had on a drive with the better half I’m sure it will be my fault regardless if I swap the pump or not. I’ll try to just replace the hose.

Brian, where do you source the hoses?

After looking up the part #196892 at Ricambi, Algar, AWItalian, All Ferrari Parts Inc and others I could not find a source for the hose. I then asked you if you knew of a source because you stated that you had replaced the hoses on several 430's. I didn't realize I was asking a totally stupid question until you helped me realize my fault. Thanks.

Be specific if you have a specific question.

    #1 Don't believe web sites.
    #2 Call.
#3 Get someone qualified to fix your car and they will make it happen. I fabricate a lot of hoses because Ferrari is too cheap to keep stock. I don't just throw up my hands and insult people.

Ask stupid questions get stupid answers.

I have an 05 430. My steering hose was leaking at the pump. Tried to tighten the hose clamp but it kept leaking. Bought a new PS hose from Recambi and it fixed it. About $40 bucks. The original hose was hard and brittle compared to the new hose. 15 year rubber tend to dry out. Easy fix. GL

I agree, the hose needs replaced. Unfortunately, nobody has one in stock, including Ricambi. I went ahead and fitted another OEM type Otiker clamp to the hose on each side of the original. I expect that should last long enough to source a replacement hose.
