I’d sure like to know more about what kind of relationship it takes with a dealer to flip one.
Model is still in production. Flippers need to sell fast as premiums are eroding rapidly. I've stated this before on this site and will say again: second hand market is thin at this price level unless it's a very limited/numbered car. Good luck!
Different era back then. Ferrari wasn't selling out every chance they could with increased production numbers and lame new models every other month.
Please don't forget that a well optioned pista and pista Spyder is nearing the price of what the Enzo sold for new... Don't forget that was the era of free money and credit. It's not like 360s and 430s were exactly rare. You could buy a 360 in 06-07 for 90-110k btw. Ferrari is in the business of making profit not keeping certain buyers who just flip cars like pretend car dealers pockets fat.
Fair point. There was also a lot less competition back then driving up desirability of the latest cars. Also a 360 selling for 100k over sticker would be like pistas selling for 800-900k relatively speaking since 360s were only 150k new. Being in the business of making a profit to please investors is the reality of where we are today, but it's diminished the brand greatly.
Premiums are already gone. There are plenty msrp cars out there. Ferrari’s premium era is done for current and upcoming cars
Can’t speak for the US but in UK no premiums at all trade for coupe maybe beans or list for Spider. That’s if you can find a buyer most dealers just want agency.
Does this count as one? https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/inbound-2020-pista-available.612960/
I have no affiliation. Just saw the post. But it looks like he is just giving a heads up that a car is available at a dealer. And, from what I understand, since the dealers are not allowed to sell over MSRP, this car should be available at MSRP. And very soon!
Trust me it will go over over list, the dealers will figure it out. They wont leave money on the table.
Premiums are NOT gone for Pistas or Pista Spyders, not be a long shot. Any cars being posted by individuals looking to launch their build or their allocation are not indicative of a lack of premium.
Dealer will sell it at list to one of their "preferred" customer who will then list it back at the dealer at +$50-100k and they will split the profit.
I'm not actively following the market for Pistas. I do know one that is selling at MSRP (high MSRP - $560k). it was offered to me initially with $40K premium (that was his break even (commissions). Now it is being offered at MSRP. He said he hasn't had any bites or any interest.
Lots of factors including market, options, color, etc. I've seen a couple that were awful and wouldn't consider unless I could steel it.
Algar has a 1400 mile Pista for sale on their web site right now: window sticker $391K, they are asking $429K. As I said premiums are disappearing quickly - here's the evidence. Just one example ...
$15k for two tone stripe hahahahahaha I know of car that the paint was so thin on stripe, hand waxing car with a cleaner wax, caused clear damage to stripe and was repainted prior to delivery. What Robbery!?! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
