That was so much fun last year.... I think Glick is in Baja, so I can switch to the German Audi Team, as I left them my cowboy hat!!! Catch it if you are in the Texas Hill Country
Well it was QUITE the weekend! I'm so sorry not to be able to check the thread Christoph! What a load out from Houston Friday night, packed the dog, my clothes, and around 11:00PM, my keys were missing.. LOCKED into my enclosed garage......sigh. Got that sorted and only a falling star at 2AM outside of Paige, Texas told me I was on the "right path". The Track was closed at that time but eventually I found my way in to Camping Lot N, and froze in the truck until sunrise!! Once in to find the Saturday Schedule, I went downtown and took a nap! Well, none of my pictures are loading.../thread Ferrari showed well, and I was with the Audi Team, Car Collection. Also awesome to see the Lamborghini run the full time......
I really had some great shots, but apparently some of them are videos, damn iPhone!! Let see what else will load....The Kirchhoff Audi (Car Collection) did indeed "Roll on thru the night" like a Little Feat song.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
The best part was the greeting from Dr. Kirchhoff, a big bear hug, and a "Where have you been???" as I had missed all the practice and Qualifying!! He's a really fun guy to be around...….
Several teams greeted me that way, recalling the giant (fake) fur coat, from last year's Start!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I tried to get them you guys, they posed me among them all, back by the replica GT40s, so it's "out there somewhere"...!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
That young lass threw Hankooks all weekend long, and you know I did not see a single tire failure, there may have been one, but I saw not ONE shredded carcass. In fact there were plenty of teams cleaning them and replacing them in the heaters.... Very few of the tire crews spoke English actually, I got that smile and a gloved "fist Bump" after her photo!!
...sentimental favorites, for sure!! Only three drivers on the squad. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was watching the Part 1 video stream this morning, it's a real shame that more of the Texas and FerrariChat folks don't realize this event is even ON! Everything was free, I was given a Paddock Parking, free, and using Dr. Kirchhoff's name they hung a Pit Wall Access badge, on me.....free. I cannot say more and the management of Cervantes...need a Program? Take two, they are free! It was a total culture shock , after F1 three weeks ago!! I hid my breakfast, to monitor the 488GT3 in the pits, this stack said "Save" so I hoped no one would haul it away...... Image Unavailable, Please Login
….alas, the gearbox was making huge metal...it came out with the oil....they worked for a time, but had the sad Italian shaking of heads..... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The amazing Dr. K!!! And you know, only moments before this shot, he stopped and conferred with the Ferrari team, like checking on a friend in the Hospital.... Sportsmanship, in HUGE doses, was all around... Image Unavailable, Please Login
...how long to change a 488GT3 gearbox, anyway?? No matter, there were no spares... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Is anyone liking this? Sorry I could not post in real time, but as you see I was having to LIVE it, and then bring it back. My feet were so tired after each long day I'm afraid the South Congress night life suffered from it. Race......eat....sleep...….race some more!! That would make a nice fishing reef, out in the Gulf somewhere, all chained together!! I assume they recycle them, somehow....
