I am in the market for a 512 TR or M, I know there is an ongoing thread for all TR's but the pricing for the the 512TR and M seems to be different due the the limited number of cars available. My guess a good 512 Tr is around 160 K to 180 K, but asking prices are well over 220 K. Any thoughts

In terms of a trend, one would have to say it is downward at the moment. Asking prices for all exotics seem to be all over the map. I think this is because we are currently in the transition phase from an irrationally bullish market moving further into a depressed market for used luxury cars. Many dealers (and some private sellers) are trying to keep the party going and holding out for a buyer who is out of touch with the current reality. That is why you still see examples of cars listed with way above market prices and sitting for months, well over a year in some cases.

It is hard to get solid transaction data at this point, as most cars probably change hands at nowhere near their asking prices but that information is not made public.

For example, nice F512 M examples in the UK have sold at auction for approx 150K GBP, but you can find others with asking prices where the seller is trying to pretend it is still 2015-2017 during which all TR variants had a brief run up in values. My Testarossa is not on the market, but I know it is worth about 35-40% less than 3 years ago. My guess is it will be worth even less in a year's time and the same goes for most used Ferraris. I notice some dealers biting the bullet and dropping asking prices in large chunks over several weeks. I expect this will continue over the winter and gradually the bid ask spread will narrow.

p.s. I don't think the TR, or M, are limited enough for the market to care. i.e. Challenge Stradale and Scuds getting hammered, even 16M no longer appreciating, probably back below MSRP. The flood of supercars hitting the market over the past decade, all "limited" to 500 units, or whatever, I think has fundamentally changed the market perception of limited and/or special.

condition will vary, and not always in direct correlation with price.
so find one that is in great shape, then inquire about price.

Thanks for reply’s, priority I agree would be a 94 not that many have come on th market.
Went to Look at real low mileage 92 in Miami asking ridiculous number over 300k.
It seems that a lot of 92s are offered where are the 93 and 94s.
I am ready to pull the trigger for the right car low mileage clean car, can factor in costs for major service in price.
Hard to get a handle on a Fair market price BAT auction went to 140k but didn’t sell, M on Bonham I believe sold for 190 k
Bottom line price is not my priority but finding the right car is.
Any thoughts on Europe market cars

It’s a fair question though. Sellers aren’t (yet) coming down to levels where buyers will buy. Same old stock.

not that i am looking that hard, but i have not found any 512tr's for sale at 150k that are even in as good a shape as my own.
have you actually seen them with your own eyes, or are you just picking numbers up from BAT?
and if you are picking numbers from BAT, can you share them with us?

    this sounds about normal.
people tend not to sell at numbers that they dont think they could replace the car with if they wanted one back, unless they are desperate.

    i dont really agree.
    i would not pay a premium for a 94.
yes they have the stronger dif and even ABS, but that is not enough to pay 25% more, or even more, for it.

if the OP is after the 512tr, he should find the one in the best condition and then start thinking about year and talking about price.

    - find the best car you can and then think about year and price.
    - there are more 92's because of the 2200 built, more than 1000 were built in 92, then about 800 in 93, and then the balance in 94 ....basically with the M coming, and the 550 thereafter, the market desire for the car diminished.
    - euro cars are superior in my opinion because they dont have those stupid mouse belts. :) but, it depends on which country they come from. the best bet is those from switzerland. the dollar is in your favor right now. but then you will have about 7k in transport costs and 2.5% import duty.

Indeed but it’s the divergence between the two that is the point I’m making. Nat seems to be making the same point.

    so where does that go?

does the op go trolling around trying to find the one poor sap trying to sell a condition 1 car for $140k coz he needs the money to pay off a debt tomorrow?......
or does he pony up and pay $180+k for the very best 512tr he can find, regardless of year and mileage?

the op asked us for our opinion, coz he wants to actually buy a car sometime soon.
he needs advice. what are you telling him to do?

My opinion on Ferrari 94 512 TR status

    plus or minus 10%

    a 94 with up to or less than 2000 miles = $400,000.00
    a 94 with up to or less than 5000 miles= $ 325,000.00
    a 94 with up to or less than 9000 miles= $ 250,000.00
    a 94 with between 10,000.00 and 15,000 miles= $220,000
    a 94 with between 15,000 and 20,000 miles = $ 199,000.00
    a 94 with above 25,000 miles...$150,000 to $200,000

These cars are now even more mileage sensitive than at any time due to fact that no one is doing ground up restorations yet..some day it may change..but I dont see it anytime soon.

Yes I almost bought a couple at 150k, end I actually test drove a few
Sharing with you some. Asking price for all of those was 20/30% higher than sale price.
As far as the 94: more rare, better car, commands a large premium... is it worth the difference? No but it’s what the figures show.
