This first series Alfa Romeo Giulietta (1955 - 1958) is one of the most urgently missed cars in the Alfa Romeo Centenary Collection - finally!
It should come out in about 2 weeks.

I wish they would also do the newer sedans including the 75, 155 and 164. And a GTV6 and Junior Zagato :) I would make a bunch of touring car decals for a regular body 155 if they did one.

I wonder how many models will be released in the Le Mans collection (poster shows several some multiple winners, but NO Ferrari - looks like they didn't get the licensing from Maranello) and if there will be only post-war racers (the oldest one here is the 1955 D-type of Hawthorn/Bueb)

On one of the press sheets it show a Bugatti T57, so I think prewar also.

What has to be one of the nicest 1/24th diecast models I have seen. Amazing detail for the money. Nothing opens as it is a collector display model. The photo is of the actual model not a retouched photo. Hachette is getting better with every release.

Ooh, that does look very nice for a part-work. I'd like to see it next to a 1:20 Revell Creative Masters GT40. The Revell is fully opening, but the Hachette is the right scale to match my Jouef P4.

I don't expect to see any Ferrari models. Bburago presumably did the 'Le Grandi Ferrari' range, and I doubt they'll be knocking out a decent TR60 or 375+ any time soon!

This 1/24 GT40 looks great! With the exception of it being a curbside model, it is far superior to the old 1:20 Creative Masters piece.

I also just looked at a few current listings on eBay for this Hachette GT40. Any idea of what the correct price should be and best places to find & buy one?

eBay probably is the best place right now. It’s a test release limited to France and they’ve already moved on to the next issue, the Peugeot 905.

It is a much nicer looking model, having seen it properly.

Thanks. I've looked at assorted photos closely and can tell it's a very good model. One more to add to the collection!

A few new Hachette models I have acquired in 1/24th scale. All models shown were made in Bangladesh, and to a higher standard than the Chinese made Hachette models. Also a complete listing of all Hachette news stand models. The McLaren even has correct rain tires, but the GT40 and Lancia are the best. Tyrrell P34 is a gift to 1/24th scale F1 lovers. Notice the size difference between the P34 and GT40. P34 is a tiny car, something you would not notice if it was in 1/20th scale.. DUH :)

I have received my GT40 this week from a fellow modeler in France and ist says "fabriqué en Chine" (made in China) on the base of the blister package.

Tom, do you think there is a connection between Hachette and Spark models with the Le Mans series? I have the `72 Matra and the Peugeot 905 as - already assembled - resin models made by Spark/Le Mans miniatures which are both excellent replicas. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Moreover, in Japan is a hachette series about 1/43 Le Mans cars all over ebay, which appear to be the same as in the French 1/24 test (at least the ones that are shown in the folder. German internet shops such as modelissimo or ck-models have 1/43 Le Mans cars on sale at the moment (they call them Spark)...

Unfortunately the Lancia B20 coupe scales out in most dimesnions more to 1/22 scale than 1/24, and the wheelbase is also not correct for any scale. I wanted to turn it into a Carrera Panamericana race car with Pattos decals but this would result in a lot of work: chopping the top, correcting the wheelbase and closing the hood (it has two holes for the man who is lying upon it !). For a size comparison see my pic with Leo models' 1/24 B24 Spider!

Just an observation here... From what I've seen of the models released as Spark products vs. those they have made for Hachette, some if not all of the ones for Hachette are less detailed than the Spark versions.

Yes very true. The Spark/Lemans Miniatures are resin and semi hand built. The Hachette are very good quality diecasts, although some seem almost to a semi hand built quality they are still diecasts. That Lancia B20 gave me great hope but in the end it was made for a cartoon series unfortunately more so toy like.

On the Hachette Lemans and rally models the blister pack says made in Bangladesh on the bottom. They also look better than the Hachette Chinese models. Could have split production but they are limited production diecast so I doubt it.

Tom, no doubt about your models being manufactured in Bangladesh as are a lot of mine, too. But this one says "fabricated in China" on the bottom - see pic.

For anyone interested in the Lancia Aurelia B20 Coupé, I disassembled it and had a bad surprise: there are no holes in the hood for fixing the guy but 2 metal tubes protruding from it which are cast with the body ! How silly is that? Moreover, I took some shots showing the difference in size compared with the wonderful Metro/Ixo Aurelia B 24 Spider from the Quattroruote series which has a perfectly proportioned body and is true to 1/24 scale (this time both models without the base-plate) - final result: body needs a lot of work - interior is almost useless...
Don't say you have not been warned - I also took pics from the dasboard and the sparse interior as well as the bottom plate - but see yourself!

I have one and I think its around 1/22nd or 1/21 scale, to bad. Maybe Hachette the parent company for most of these releases will do a proper one in the future. I see they have an Alfa van coming this summer on one the newsstand subscriptions.
