Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login When you look at the rough condition of this old water pump that still works, I can’t help thinking about all the newer water pumps that routinely fail. They made things so much better way back when.... The corrosion on the thermostat housing and water flow parts is significant enough that I’m replacing those parts too. Another order placed with Dinoparts
Keep it. Just in case. Your photos show a great reason to change the coolant annually including a Water Pump lubrication package. Again, I have never heard of the Dino water pump being an achilles heal (in my Maserati Bora it was though) Do the new castings have the same Dino production numbers in them? Several folks go to Tom Shaughnessy's parts bin for good used OEM
Apparently I’m not “in the know”. I ordered repros from Dino parts. As always, I keep the oem parts. My objective has been to keep the car as original and true as possible, but make all the systems reliable and functional.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll definitely keep the parts so that could be done in the future. At the moment, I’m just going to fit new parts and get her back on the road.
mine was the same and it fell apart, the oxidation was to far gone to weld. Best to replace as you will always be looking over shoulder waiting for a plume of water !!
I hear that ! I want confidence in the car and driving enjoyment. The concourse trophies can be for someone else. Although I do strive for “correctness” where possible.

Thanks John. That would be great. Drop ship her on over to escape the fires and I’ll promise a really thorough Italian Tune-up!
Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Last year I replaced the gearbox sump cover with great and frustrating success. I managed to stop that leak and now I’m going to give myself a break and get my very capable mechanic to replace the two differential shaft seals to remedy the final leaks. With the engine in the car, this will be a true test of his talents! parts in the way.....
While doing the water pump, I’m going to go ahead and replace both long coolant hoses and heater bypass hose. Might as well have a totally fresh and reliable cooling system.
Fiddly but relatively easy job to replace the seals, check the pre load to the bearings are in spec while you are there. If out of spec then you may need to replace the shim plate thickness accordingly. tony
