Can't really help with the route, but? For dining in ABQ? HELL! Was gonna recommend Scalo, but apparently it shut down. Was one of my faves for years, when I'd pass through that area. Awesome Northern Italian (and Northern Italian is hard to find anywhere in the country.) Sorry for the interruption, but wish you an awesome trip!
Best Chile Rellenos in the US are at a little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant called Eloys just north of I-40 on Wyoming Blvd in Albuquerque. Less than 2 minutes off the interstate on the right. Been going there nearly 30 years.
Can I get a discount, or a free marguerita, if I mention your name? I just looked and were staying about 4 miles from there. I put it on the list!
Owner's name is Loretta and she will likely remember us. Only wine margaritas, though, and wine and beer. No hard stuff. Different types of liquor licenses in NM. Best Mexican food in Albuquerque, and we have tried most of them.
Based on the route recommendations I've received, I'll have a long twisty drive to Scottsdale so I won't need any hard liquor the night before anyway.
If you do take US 191 between Alpine and Clifton, make sure you have a full tank, and a spare. There is nothing between the two cities, except a great driving experience. Don't know about cell coverage in the area in case you have a breakdown, I would image it is very limited. This time of the year you should probably check the weather as well. Have a good time.
I was in Albuquerque last month, and wound up having a very nice lunch at an Italian place called M'tucci's on Coors Blvd at Montano Rd.
Image Unavailable, Please Login Luggage loaded this morning and 11 hours and 660 miles later we're in Roanoke. I was amazed there were no traffic delays. I was doing 65 to 85 the whole day. The last 3 hours were done in rain, but the MPS 4S tires siped the water well and the car felt very stable.
ha..."close" in that you had "Wyoming" in your "best Rellenos". The best I've had - by far and in their own class - are potato-and-beef filled ones at Juan's in a small town in Wyoming Image Unavailable, Please Login
Driving a Ferrari 612 OTO with the coolest matching luggage across the country? Winning! Enjoy the trip (keep us posted).
My interior is terra bruciata, I don't know the luggage color. I bought it from a FChat member. It was brand new but he didn't know the color. It's actually for the Sessanta. Well start on 81 and then 40 for about 6 hours to Nashville.
nah, Juan's idea of "design" is letting the Elk's antlers stick over the sidewall of his truck after a morning hunt. Pretty simple stuff, none of his food would be called designer.
Arrived in Nashville this afternoon. It was a lousy drive because it rained most of the time, and went through an area with tons of blowing leaves, clogged up the radiator. Plus it is 40 degrees here! We ate at Luke Bryan's 32 Bridge, excellent mac&cheese and southern ribs. No Ferrari tomorrow, just sightseeing.
Paul- It was 20 or so degrees here this morning, but clear. Keep a good eye out, but it looks good for at least a week in Albuquerque and the weather is warming up.
I think it got close to 20 here overnught, and I didn't pack an ice scrapper! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Cold and clear is not much of a problem once the tires warm up. Snow, near freezing rain and slush are another story.
I know it's kinda late, but I had dinner at Sadie's one night, and Trombino's the next night and both were very good. In 2017.
After Nashville we spent an afternoon and night in Memphis and then drove to Amarillo.. Today we arrived in Albuquerque and walked around Old Town. Unfortunately the museum there is closed on Monday. We took Taz" recommendation and ate at Eloy"s. No chilli rellenos though, my wife had a sampler plate and I had the beef fajitas. Two thumbs up! Highly recommend a stop in Santa Fe - go to Maria's. Best Margaritas in the country. Huge list and great kitchen. Excellent Chile too.
