Any photos of the master suite with shower? The Bombardier layout was really well done so I'm curious as to how this will look by comparison. It will probably be a popular option like it turned out with Bombardier unless it comes standard.
Since the G650/700 is wider than the Global it should be an easier fit. Showers have been installed in Gulfstreams as far back as G-IVs and maybe some G-IIIs. Most Boeing Business Jets have showers but are rarely used except as an additional place for luggage.
Do you work on this during the secret development? One of the reports said that this has been going on for about 2 years.
Yes sir I have 21 years, and work in R&D. We cant comment unless it is a sanctioned, public disclosure by the company (this news release qualifies). This is a very nice aircraft.
Interested to see pictures of a shower in any Gulfstream GIV, GV, G550... Didn't know any of them could fit one.
In the older interiors where the aft toilet and vanity was on the RH and the closet on the left - closet becomes a shower. Sit down, not stand-up. Not a great shower but it was one. As far back as the G-IIs there were expanded aft lavs with both a toilet and separate bidet for some Middle East customers.
You get to interact with the Bonner people doing the mock-up? I've done business with them and Ed Harris, sales, is a good friend.
Can you tell us what the hatch above the door is? Is that an additional emergency exit, or just something for the flight test airplane?
A real beauty! Saw today the presentation's videos. Amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjzKws8b5Pw
I cant comment any more other than what the company has posted. More details are forthcoming from the company. Thanks
It's odd seeing the hatch looking thing in the photo, but it's not there in the rollout video on either of the two planes they have in the video...
Did they do any shoots over Vancouver? I saw what I thought was a g650 being trailed by a spotter aircraft a few months back. Pretty cool sight. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
In the Boeing the shower can be a decent size with full stand up room. Additionally the aircraft can carry enough water to supply the shower. The nature of how a VIP Boeing is used is somewhat different from what has been normal for the Gulfstream class. The Boeing regularly will be outfitted with a full bedroom and master lavatory. Usage wise they are expected to spend more of their time on long trips which can be overnights. Some of the owners will even use the aircraft as their meeting room at the destination instead of going off to the hotel or someone's office. In those cases they have the utmost of privacy from prying eyes. One can also put it down to the fact that the Boeing has the room to give up for the shower even if it is only used occasionally. This is something that the Gulfstream, Global and Falcon are effectively short on. They can do it but it is going to seriously compromise some other cabin feature. I’ve been in a side lav 737 bbj and I agree that the shower is a good size- I’m 6’ tall and fit in it with plenty of room.
The side lav BBJ is for sale. My client has given it a look. It has a very unusual layout and minimal aux tanks. We looked at the BBJ 1 at an NBAA several years ago.
