So I dont get this wrong what is the exact part number and a picture would help of the REDLINE gearbox oil to use.. AND so I'm on the same page ...I will NOT need any friction additive..correct.
From what everyone says use 4x 75w90 and 1x MTL. This right? And you all say that the 2nd gear shift improves.
Just wondering if anyone else has used this for gearbox xcase Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Alright Mike. All done. Added Redline to the gearbox. I never drove it beforehand cuz I just bought the car but apparently second gear was very tough for 5 minutes till warmed up so I hope this has improved it or made it drive like a normal car thanks everyone for your help sorry to drag the song again and again and again but I'm new I have never owned a Ferrari I just don't want to break it Image Unavailable, Please Login
The next thing I'm going to Taco is the tune-up spark plugs cap and rotor seems to be pretty straightforward.
Just being a new Ferrari owner for about 3 weeks I'm pretty impressed at how this car is built it looks very clean underneath 84000 km anything I should be doing to this car at that time Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just drive it and enjoy it. Be aware of fuel smells (fire risk), and look out for leaks and listen for strange noises If you don’t know when the timing belts were last changed I would do those sooner rather than later.
T.belt was done in 2016 at 1000kms ago. But I have noticed oil sweating around the cam gears. And what about the plastic cam gears ....should they be replaced at all.....and should i do t.belt. I feel I should...
Look for cracks in the cam pulley side guides (“fences”) and if none change belts at 5 years. If lower cam drives are leaking I would loosen belt tensioners and check lower pulleys for play.
I think the cam seals are.leaking anyways. Son will need to find a good detailed procedure for repairs. What about the plastic cam gears....should I replace them. They are old...but I havent heard of them cracking or exploding
The plastic fences are known to break. Check them for cracks with dye penetrant. I have adjustable aluminium sets and so do others. Check the belts wrap fully around any new pulleys as the Dayco S tooth is not the same as the standard ISO “L” profile so some pulleys are wrong (I have some of those going cheap
Ok. Not there yet but in the next week I'm tearing it apart.. Know of any good set by set procedure videos....sites....
All worked out. Test drove it today. Shifts perfect in all gears and 2nd is perfect. No leaks..at least today. Now onto t.belt. Anyone know were to get a repair manual or pdf o repairing the car. I have the original owners yellow handbook but looking for more detailed instructions.
I did check my T.belts and they are the Dayco belts from S.formance. but I dont fallow what your saying...sounds like the belts are the wrong size.??
I just replaced the shift shafts seals in my 84 QV using Superformance seals and gaskets .No more oil leaks , the original seals were more like plastic than rubber and took alot of effort to pick out. Thanks to all that posted advise here.
Ya same for me. It all went very well. But couldnt have done it without all the help from everyone. THANKS
