A couple threads are here on repairing the motors. The same motor is for headlights and spoiler. The spoiler seems to go bad first because of exposure.
When I needed one I found a used one in a Volvo Forum from a Volvo 480 but they are rare and expensive. Dit you open the unit? What exactly is broken. Sometimes the contacts can be repaired.
There is actually no such thing as a major on one of our V12s. Most folks lump together a bunch of services, however, and call it a major. If you do not have to pull the engine, it is not a major.

whooaaa - i didnt know that - i thought the 456 was an engine out - if its an engine in shldnt it be more like 4k? My f355 is an engine out and that belt service is $8k.
Depends on what needs doing and whether there are any leaks from the cam seals and cam covers. Also depends on what was done at the last belt change. For long term owners, one degreeing the cams belt change may do you for a couple of lock and swaps if there are no leaks. Those are much less expensive. Also depends on whether the water pump needs rebuilding.
I didn't know this, beside cam belts, what's part of the wrong-called major? Assuming a car that has been driven and has around 50k miles. I'm asking the specialist to give me a break down as well.
Adjusting valve clearance if she has not had it done recently. Except for needing to change coolant every two years or so, the factory maintenance schedule is pretty good. New bearings/pulleys to go with the cambelt change, Hill Engineering ones recommended. Update tensioner brackets if an early 456. Check of suspension joints/bushings, although our V12s are pretty good for those lasting a while, unlike the 360/F430/612. Possibly cleaning the fuel injectors and changing the filters. All of this can be done piecemeal, but a lot of folks save it up for the cambelt change

As for my earlier post about The Window Gap. F1 Imports (Naples, FL) will notoriously fix the window mechanism if you send it to them, but even so in some cases that won't remove The Gap in its entirety. The "clever positioning of the door gasket along the B-pillar" I was mentioning earlier is a simple but obvious solution: separate the door gasket from the B-pillar, nudge the gasket toward the window edge so that any existing gap is removed and place appropriate DIY spacers between door gasket and B-pillar so that it stays that way. I didn't see it in any threads: I guess I came up with it myself - but it's really both very simple and rather obvious. In my case the F1 Imports + gasket repositioning worked beautifully and both my windows seal extremely well - no gap.
Ferrari had a similar fix, but it involved replacing the rear window with a new larger piece of glass.
Hello These cars are very well build and provided they are well maintained the mileage should not be an issue. Mine had 93k miles with service history when it arrived. Lots of parts had never been changed. The clutch Is still original and also so are the engine/Gearbox mounts. Radiator is original and never been re-cored. To my surprise even the timing belt tesnioners looked like they have never been changed and are the old style. Windows seal well too! The engine uses no oil and service records show Mobil 1 0w40 has been used since the first service. I am now working through the whole car slowly changed parts that are worn.
That's great to hear, congrats! Which model do you have specifically? And if you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost? I would've been scared of buying a car with so many miles but because of lack of knowledge on my part. If it's really an option for me as well it would be perfect because I'm really not interested in selling it ever hehe
Thank you Its cost me around Many thanks The car Is a left hand drive 456GT motronic 2.7. The total cost was below £30k that includes lots of work and mods. I have done all work myself so far with the guidance of this forum and friend's. This also includes a custom made X pipe. I still have many more parts left and on order. The complicated work will be left to a specialist once I choose one to work with. I’n very grateful to this forum and members who really have helped me through some critical technical issues and knowledge
Hi Gezim Once I got her started I moved the car to a better position and then decided to remove the starter. What a mission! I upgraded all the bolts and washers of the cats and X pipe to titanium whilst I was in there. I then purchased a brand new Bosch Starter that fits a Ferrari 512tr from ebay and swapped the flange. All the part numbers matched for the bendix. Refitted everything. She starts first time Thank you

If you buy a new door deal, it’s slightly larger than the original one. The proper fix has to involve having the window regulator repaired by F1. The alloy pivot pin in the centre of the scissor section wears a groove in one side because of the constant ‘burping’ down and up with every open and close action of the door. They replace it with a stainless steel version they make up in house. Combined with the new gasket, and proper window adjustment, it’s a perfect, long term solution. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
