I am planning on returning my car, 03112 back to it's original color of Azzuro with original blue interior. Any suggestions on the interior as only the original black Dino vinyl is still available. I assume I will have to dye black reproduction vinyl to the color. I would love to see a sample/swatch of the original vinyl material color.

Here is a photo of the original Blu 135 Skai Vinyl on a headrest in '02524 that I took back in 2015 along with a larger shot of the full interior when it was auctioned by Silverstone Auctions. I'd think it may prove extremely difficult to get the remade black version successfully dyed into this colour. The re manufactured vinyl is available in Nero (black) 161, Rosso (red) 1401 and Beige 430. Blu vinyl was a rarely chosen option on new cars so it seems that nobody has commissioned a new run due to the high cost involved versus low sales potential. The white vinyl is also available through a specialist in Italy but it features a different grain texture as it was supplied by a different supplier in period to Ferrari.

Thanks for the pictures and information! Maybe dying the beige would be the best option, I will have to start experimenting. It would definitely have that 70's look with the Azurro/blue colors. The car was still in these colors before the restoration was done and before I bought the car, the person who did the restoration said it looked "god awful" but I think it would look pretty amazing.

i build custom cars - and i have a very talented custom interior guy (who has also done classic restorations on corvettes and a 71 911 for me) - he is usually very good at sourcing out very very close colors and textures from everything available from all makers

i guess my suggestion is to ask some good custom interior guys to do some research and find some samples outside of the ferrari world

Original vinyl interiors had a lot of heat sealed ‘stitching’ and markings on it making it impossible to use roll material and get a correct result. I would contact Luppi in Italy that does the correct heat sealed vinyl covers to see what is possible. Worst case is that you can paint the interior to the correct color. If properly prepped vinyl can be painted perfect making it indistinguishable from material molded in the correct color. That said if you can get the correct material is is always more correct and will end up costing less

I agree with Rob. The most realistic thing to do is get the lightest Luppi beige heat seamed vinyl kit and paint it. You can custom match the color. There’s a lot of YouTube videos on this.

It would be worth contacting Matt at Re-Originals in Houston. He has contact with a very good trim shop in Italy called Guidoboni & Zucchelli who can also make the heat stitched interior for the Dino in the original vinyl. They actually have a better and more accurate pattern for the seat centre insert than Luppi use. They did this interior in 06364 using the correct original white vinyl which had a different grain to the other Wunder Domus colours. Luppi did not have access to this vinyl. The final result looked stunning against the Blu Sera paintwork.

And this is their work on a red seat cover using the correct original Dino vinyl.
