Thanks for your reply! Interesting! I didn't know it was a dealer upgrade. That might explain the confusion and lack of information and parts.

Hi, you're right, this diagram is probably for my car, which means the shield is for a Delco, which I have today. It seems like there's no factory shield for the Nippon Denso 105A, which I'm now intending to buy. It's obvioulsly designed to fit the Delco upper bracket and most likely won't fit the different bracket for the Nippon Densos. If there's no factory one, I'll ask my workshop to make one.

NOW I got the information below from Eurospares (which is all according to the parts diagrams and lists, which I referred to in an earlier post):

these two brackets are for the GENERATOR 105 A. NIPPONDENSO Part No: 155785 and 156235 Alternator 140A (Nippon Denso)
145357 lower bracket -Valid From Engine Nr. 30738
149627 upper bracket -Valid From Engine Nr. 30738

    149627 pictures:

These two bracket are listed for 139421 changes to 170192 GENERATOR 105 A. DELCO Not as spare part now Replaced by kit 1 -70000790 for front battery cars, 70000791 for rear battery cars / ALTERNATIVE USED 393050214 and 156235 Alternator 140A (Nippon Denso)
139295 BELT TIGHTENING AND GENERATOR SUPPORT -Valid Till Engine Number. 30737
144639 UPPER BRACKET -Valid Till Engine Nr. 30737

    144639 pictures:

    Lars

PS. I didn't attach the images, but they're photos of the the two different upper brackets, which can be seen in the parts diagrams.

The Eurospares parts listing under the diagram for AC Delco alternator incorrectly includes the Denso 140A. It should not be there.

Thank you! I told Eurospares that it's got to be wrong and the guy there admitted that it's confusing with all these brackets and that they can only go by the parts lists. The Scuderia site shows the same thing, but not Maranello, which is a relief. I think I have to give up the ND140A and order a new ND 105A kit (70000809) (from Maranello) and install a heat shield (which I have to fabricate, as there's none for the Nippon Densos). Lucky you, who found a ND 140A kit :)

Just to show what the correct parts listing is for the Delco alternator version and what should the Ferrari parts websites show for their Delco diagrams. And the diagram I attached is clearer (higher resolution) than what I see on the Eurospares website.

    Hi again 348-friends!

Does anybody know where the cables from the Nippon Denso 105A should go to and how they should "run"/"be installed" in the car (it's obviously different from the Delco)? Can you find a diagram for this somewhere?

I also wonder if anybody knows the part number for an original cable loom for this alternator. I haven't been able to find it.

    Thanks in advance!

Your link is for the Delco alternator I have replaced with a Nippon Denso, which is in this diagram: https://www.ferrariparts.co.uk/diagram/ferrari/348-tb-ts/042a-current-generator-(valid-from-engine-nr-30738)-battery
I can, however, not find the cable loom in this diagram either.

It's mainly the harness I want (the workshop managed to find a connector plug), but I thought it came as a kit with the wires attached to the connector. I also need a wiring diagram to see how the wires are routed and where they are connected!

This is the harness I got with the Denso 140A alternator kit, p/n 153131:
    Image Unavailable, Please Login
It is for rear battery and round 9-pin connector at the left side of the engine compartment (just in front of the shock tower). This connector was rectangular on later models. This harness is, in addition to the alternator, also for various sensors/transmitters and for the starter solenoid. From the mentioned 9-pin connector on the left side, the harness goes into the "Vee" of the engine and then it branches to the sensors, alternator etc.

The harness you are looking for should be #13 on the diagram below. There are 4 versions: Motronic 2.5, Mortonic 2.7 rear battery and two for the front battery (round and rectangular left side connector).
    Image Unavailable, Please Login
The four different part numbers for #13 shown at Eurospares do not include p/n 153131 shown on my harness but if you search for it separately, it is shown.

There are currently two of these harnesses (used) on Ebay, with a round and rectangular connector at the left side of the engine compartment:

There is also one from Australia, rectangular side connector:

    SOLUTION TO MY ALTERNATOR PROBLEMS

FIRST: THANKS EVERYBODY THAT CONTRIBUTED IN THIS THREAD!!! I APPRECIATE IT VERY MUCH AND HOPE IT'LL HELP OTHERS AS WELL!

My car now has a Nippon Denso 105A alternator fitted, instead of the original Delco 105A, and a manually manufactured heat shield between the alternator and manifold. I also bought a new battery, the most powerful I could find that goes into the battery compartment (Tudor Exide High-Tech 77Ah 760A(EN)) – I think/hope it's going to support the alternator when power spikes occur.

If anybody's interested in doing the same operation, these are the parts you'll need (the first number is from the diagram you can find at, for example:
    https://www.eurospares.co.uk/parts/ferrari/348-27-motronic/electrical-ignition/current-generator-starting-motor-41199/155684
    https://www.ferrariparts.co.uk/part/ferrari/155785?id=36841

1, 70000809, alternator kit (Nippon Denso 105A, upper bracket and belt)
    2, 155684, alternator shield
    4, 1588882, screw
    5, 12642501, washer, X3
19, 145357 Lower support (not available new, only used, I got mine from Eurospares)20, 114818, screw
21, 102742, washer (it is a nut, but says washer)
    25, 16043621, screw, X2
    26, 16104411, nut
    27, 12604479, washer, X2
    29, 137768, estendblock/silentblock
    30, 102742, nut
You'll also need a round connector that fits the Nippon Denso alternator that comes with the complete harness (see posts above) or see if you can get a connector separately (my workshop had a used one) and connect cables yourself (wiring diagram for 348 GTB/Spider, only difference is battery at rear instead of front).
I also recommend (thanks to some guys here at the forum) that you manufacture a heat shield and fit it between the alternator and manifold (there is no original for the Nippon Denso).
And, as already said, buy a new battery, the most powerful that fits!

    Lars:)

    All,

My 1990 348, with Delco alternator, had the battery light start to flash. Read this and other threads. It does indeed seem to have had some oil leak onto it.

If I clean it up with brakleen, and stop the leak, will the alterantor be ok?

I want to keep the original type of alternator and not change to a Denso
