Yeah...I figured that out when I saw the Euro QV bumper pic. The US carb cars have them too, but the Euro carb cars don’t...at least neither of mine do. So I’ll be removing those end things when I do the Euro bumper conversion on my US ‘77. Seeing the back of the bumper (forward edge), even on the Euro QV seems not right IMO. But it may just come down to personal taste...

Hi Kim! Can I ask you a favor if you can kindly take a shot of the rear bumper directly from the back showing the gap between the the end of the bumper and the body, I just want to make sure that these repro bumpers are not made too long or too short. Thank you Kim.

You want a pair? Free to good home...

My US 77 is really a great car...rust free...seriously. Runs great and handles so nicely on new XWXs, but I can’t even look at the bumpers and clunky side markers. They just make the car look like a pretty girl with measles.

Thank you so much Kim! Yes it’s a little dark but that’s ok, I can see that there is a little gap there between the bumper and the body. Here a pic of mine, which I have to do some adjustment now because there’s no gap in between and it’s touching the the body.

    Mike,
When I did the rear Euro Bumper mod on my 77 I removed those fillers on the top corners. Yours look a lot bigger than the ones on my 77, not an option to remove?

The original Euro filler is actually smaller than the US ones that’s why mine looks bigger cause it is.:)
    Yours looks really clean.

We did this conversion front and rear on my '85 308. On the rear bumper, we just took the spacers out, and that got it in to about where yours is. On the front, a prior owner had screwed up all the brackets and the welds etc were terrible. We cut that off and Ron fabricated new brackets of alloy and relocated the front bumper blade to the Euro position.

Because the bumper on my car was original and sagged at the ends, I bought a new one from eBay. It was about $400. It is clearly an aftermarket part. It required a lot of surfacing and finishing to look proper on the car, but once in, it looks great- as good as an original Euro car. I don't know if it's possible to correct the end sag on an original bumper but I will sell it and hope someone can use it.

A slight thread drift here: does anyone know if USA-spec QV cars were ever equipped with the driving and FTP lights set into the grille opening, from new? My car did not have them, and we had to add them. One of my books states that all QV cars had them, but I can't find any photos of USA spec QVs that actually HAD the lights in there. Clarification much appreciated.

Hi Jim! First of all, can you post pics of the bumper you speak of that sag and if you have pics of it installed on the car that shows how much it sag? Also I don’t think any of the US QV came with passing light in the front grill, I think that’s on the Euro car only.

I will post photos of both ends of my car as soon as we finish painting the front bumper blade and installing it. That will show the FTP lights as well. I don't know if I have any of the car with the original bumper showing the sagging... but I'll see. I did get some photos of the car sent to me by the dealer who had it for sale, and by the shop that did the PPI, so maybe I have something.

There's no question in my mind that the Euro conformation of the front and rear of these cars looked much better, but the conversions which pull the bumpers in look really nice, too.
