Ah caught you smiling at me, That's the way it should be,
Like a leaf is to a tree, so fine.

Ah all the good times we had, I sang love songs so glad
Always smiling, never sad, so fine.

*As we walk down the country lanes, I'll be singing a song,
    Hear me calling your name.
Hear the wind within the trees, Telling Mother Nature 'bout you and me.

Well if the sun shines so bright, Or on our way it's darkest night
The road we choose is always right, so fine.

Ah can your love be so strong When so many loves go wrong
Will our love go on and on...

    * Chorus

My, my la de la come on now it ain't too far,
Tell your friends all around the world,
Ain't no companion like a blue eyed merle.
Come on now well let me tell you,
What you're missing, missing, 'round them brick walls.

So of one thing I am sure, It's a friendship so pure,
Angels singing all around my door, so fine.
Yeah, ain't but one thing to do Spend my natural life with you,
You're the finest dog I knew, so fine.

When you're old and your eyes are dim, There ain't no old Shep gonna happen again,
We'll still go walking down country lanes, I'll sing the same old songs,
    Hear me call your name.

That's quite a beautiful pup you've got there. My wife and I enjoyed the company of a beautiful and brilliant weimaraner for 8 years. I'm not meaning to rain on this parade, but since I cherished my own weim so much I felt I should let you about something important to me.

My sweet little Heidi, an 8 year old Weimaraner, passed away last week. Since my wife and I have no children (yet) we devoted the majority of our lives to this fantastic pup. 3 years ago, we almost lost Heidi to a serious health problem that many vets had a hard time diagnosing. Over the next three years, we would "almost" lose her three more times. As the years progressed, she possessed less and less energy - but never lost the spark in her eyes or the love in her heart.

She had been diagnosed with Auto-Immune disease which was causing her body to kill off the red blood cells which carry oxygen throughout her body. Recently, she developed another disease, called Addison's Disease. This was causing her red blood cells to attack organs within her body. The Addison's almost immediately caused blindness. With the help of medicine, she was able to gain most of her sight back. More recently, it was discovered that she had an agressive form of liver cancer that was progressing rapidly. Due to her poor health, we could not consider subjecting her to chemotherapy. Her body was deteriorating faster than all of her vets could help her.

She was as lively as she wanted to be - always bringing her Tigger to us. Always bringing a tennis ball to us. Always wanting to play. Early last week she had taken a turn for the worse. She was a fighter, but my wife and I made a promise to her - we promised we'd always do everything humanly possible to help her and that we would never be selfish. If we felt Heidi could not make it through another battle, we would never let her be uncomfortable.

On Thursday September 8th, 2005, Heidi's spark had disappeared. The vets broke the news that we had exhausted every option possible. Leslie and I would do anything and everything for this dog - yet we could only hold her at this moment. We made the decision and put our sweet child to rest. It's been several days, but the heartache remains the same. She was a fantastic dog, my Heidi...

My Weim is 9 yrs and going on 3. One main word of advice...EXERCISE..
Also, crate train him. Weims get very anxious when alone inside or outside and they can't harm anything in a crate. I would put mine in his crate whenever I left until he was about 3yrs, even while I took a shower. Now it's just at night that we put him in.

The only toy, ball, plaything my dog can't destroy is a large KONG ball. Stuffed toy lasts about 1 min., tennis ball is good for 10min. ,and a it takes about 20 minutes to destroy a golf ball.

Leave them outside alone all day and they will become a digger and a barker.

They are great with kids, but have to be socialized with them while young.

I taught mine to "speak" on command with a hand geture when he was young, so now he thinks barking is something that he has to be told to do.

What happened to SRT Mike? I know a few have asked over the years, but I never saw any follow up. Is he doing okay? I always enjoyed his posts.

You surely got yourself a cute fur companion.
I just recently adopted this 3-month old Maltese from a friend of mine as she can no longer take good care of her. It took me some time to think about it, but I guess it is worth it as she is a ray of sunshine. She loves messing around the
drinkwell fountains that I have set up for my beagle two years ago. Also, she enjoys rolling on this white carpet that we have in the living room.

If I remember he made a bet with someone several years ago in P&R and lost and agreed to leave the forum. Something like that, or I may be confusing him with someone else.
