Assuming your boat doesn’t have Inmarsat, there are several options depending on your location:
1 - WiFi for inport ops
2 - cell service for littoral areas
3 - sattelite Service for underway

Satellite service is expensive, about $3K per month last I obtained quotes. It’s also not as fast as you’d expect.

If one is to believe the hype from Elon Musk, his Starlink system, which consists of hundreds of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, may be online for the North American (NA) market by the middle of next year. This LEO system should provide low latency mobile internet for about the same price as Comcast or ATT's broadband. The antenna appears to be small and doesn't require any aiming other than "up". Once this solution is available, buildings, cars, boats and airplanes in the NA market should be able to access high speed internet with many times the speed and a fraction of the cost of existing systems.

One launch of 60 satellites has happened already and two to six more are planned for this year. Of course, like anything that Elon Musk says, it should be taken with a grain of salt.

It depends. If you're coastal or in island chains there are hot spots you can get for about $75/month that let 5 users jump on and they're great.

If you're open ocean or don't have access to cel service it's $400-3000/month and you have to buy a whopper of a satellite dish.

Getting a satellite dish big enough to work off shore is about $30K plus installation.
The plans vary widely based on how fast and how much data.
No other viable options if you're not in a coastal or island hopping area. On a $10M+ boat this is certainly still real money but not a big expense in total picture of running a large boat.
