Hi, the latches on my cabrio have tension adjustment screws. It looks like they are as tight as they allow, even the new one recently installed by a dealer. Can anyone tell me if this is normal and necessary? It seems like a lot of stress on the parts.

    Thanks.

They should be tight enough to seal the top at the window frame which in our 92 is all the way down. Before latching I back the screws out to make it easier to close and then once both are latched I unlatch one at a time, fully tighten screw and re-latch.

It will probably be the same in ours. I will take a look at it. Thanks

Probably just means your rubber gasket at the top of the windshield has compressed over the years, and the max adjustment of the screw compensates. You don't want tighter than what keeps out the water, otherwise needless tension on the latches and windshield header receiver. The gasket is pricy but available, and is probably due for renewal if it is original.
