I opened the hatch on my 458 and noticed the engine , bay , and trim is dusty type filthy . How should we clean it ? My first inclination is with a pressure washer but I really don't need to create problems .

    Thoughts ??

Try to keep water off the engine window...it is a real pain to clean the inside of that window.

I use a vacuum to remove most of the dust and then a wet cloth to finish the job.

If it's not too bad, I use an air hose.

You can do both imo, use a vacuum cleaner or a hose.

What do you think that happens if you drive in the rain ?

Like others have said, vacuum up the dirt and then use a spray cleaner and a microfiber rag.

I use a very mild organic cleaner from Arm & Hammer that works great. I'm not sure if it's still sold in stores, but you can sometimes find it on eBay. Works great for cleaning wheels also.

This engine has 37k miles on it and is dirty. Tempted to hit it with the heavy artillery but if it didn’t start when I was done that would be a problem. I clean engines all the time but i’m acting like this one is special. LoL

be careful when using strong stuff as the red paint on the engine block actually comes off if you use strong cleaning product and rub it --> this is a first hand experience ;)

asked Ferrari dealer if this is as it should be and got back --> YES :)
