    That 212 is beautiful.

Initial impressions of Bonhams this morning was that it was rather poor, $450k for the 330GTC, $389k for a classic 911 Carrera RS 2.7 and $2.4 mil for the Blower, all great buying for someone.
The sky is definitely not falling at RM though with $1.8 million for the Aston DB5 Shooting Brake and almost $6.5 million for the Bond DB5. Both very strong amounts.

Perhaps I spoke too soon, $7.5 million for the DB3S and $2.5 million for the DB4GT were all the money and with commissions would have nudged the low estimates ($8.75 and $3 mil) but weren't hammered sold. Gooding are offering a second DB4GT at an even steeper estimate. I have no idea why you wouldn't accept what is a market correct bid for a car unless you don't really want to sell it. I don't believe it will fetch more any time soon.

While it’s obvious that certain auction companies will bring a higher price than another auction company and cars vary by condition. Is this a justifiable difference?

    Bonhams
Aston Martin DB AR1 Zagato 1,075 miles sold $218,400 including premium

    RM
Aston Martin DB AR1 Zagato under 100 miles sold $296,500 including premium?

At first glance, it would seem the difference in mileage is negligible. However, in relative marketplace of the AR1 Zagatos, the Bonhams car is a "driver" and the RM car still has "delivery mileage".

I'd say the difference in value, in the scheme of AR1s, is within reason, accounting for miles, condition and perhaps color preference for the individual buyers.

40,000 miles on that car!!! Someone should be able to pick this up for a pretty low/reasonable price. While that mileage is very high, Jim takes very good care of all his cars.

37% premium for delivery mileage, that the only way it remains that way is that you can’t actually drive it.

Exactly... As they say "it's only original (new) once". You have to bear in mind that mileage is relative to the overall pool of cars. When it comes to AR1s, over 1,000 miles is not "low mileage", relatively speaking, as a large number of the cars have been kept in essentially new condition.

The same applies to other modern cars... For example, a 1,000 mile LaFerrari coupe, even though it's 5 years old now, would be considered - at best - average miles, or even a "driver" due to the fact that there are so many cars with only 100 or 200 miles, so that skews the average.

Off the top of my head, I can think of a number of cars where delivery miles vs. just normal "low miles" carries an even higher premium than ~35%...

Gooding & Co. est. was $6-$8 mil. Sold for $6 mil 'all in' - right at low est. for a very special car.
    Low? About right?

    250 LWB Cal Spy at Gooding hammered at $ 9 M (estimate was 11 to 13 M).
