1979 930 Turbo, PTS Continental Orange w/ black interior, chassis # 9309801134. The PTS order must have pushed the production date to 12/79. Beautiful example with only 33K miles. It would be nice to see the date stamp on the back of the 85 mph VDO speedometer. I think it is likely that VDO made all of these very late-79 speedos in 11/79 (this is date on my 85 mph speedo, chassis # 1164). The spare tire date on this example is also the same as my car. https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/porsche/911/2252285.html#&gid=1&pid=89 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
1979 930 Turbo, chassis # 9309800724, silver w/ light red interior. It’s now equipped with snorkel headlight washers but I wonder if the previous flush mounted washers were original with this chassis number. In 2012, originally sold at Indigo Classics, then at Canepa, auction, and now advertised on pcar market. https://www.pcarmarket.com/auction/20k-mile-1979-porsche-930-turbo/ Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I believe you are correct, the flush mounted washers should be original with this chassis number, not the snorkels.
Really beautiful paint to sample color and condition ‘78 currrently on BAT - no affiliation just messenger. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1978-porsche-930-turbo-13/

View attachment 2813137 View attachment 2813138 Formerly from the Marshall Goldman collection, 9309801047 is a very low mile black on black '80 Build 1979 Model Year 930 that is likely the earliest build example with all changes that were found on later '80 Build MY '79 Turbos. It just sold for a strong price at the Gooding & Company 2019 Pebble Beach Auction https://www.goodingco.com/vehicle/1979-porsche-930-7/ .
Another former Marshall Goldman collection '80 Build 1979 Model Year 930 that sold for decent money at the Gooding & Company 2019 Pebble Beach Auction. This "Last 50" Red/Black 9309801179 is listed as another very low mile '79 930. All the boxes may be checked on this one but it has a 150 MPH speedometer in place of the correct 85 MPH unit. No mention of the speedometer change in the Gooding catalog description is noted. https://www.goodingco.com/vehicle/1979-porsche-930-8/ .
An early 3.3 930 makes a clean escape! Never knew anyone or anything could thump the infamous KITT, LOL
