Been collecting 1/64 Hot Wheels for years, see there are a number of books available on the subject from Company histories to value guides.
Do any fellow collectors have a recommendation for the best books?

I think you would like a second edition Tomarts Price Guide.

They are nostalgic, in and of themselves, because they go back to the days where everybody wasn't trying to make a quick buck on ebay by finding Treasure Hunts.

First edition you may extra for, and has a few mistakes, the latest editions are just too new.

FYI I have several models of all variations, even some custom ones after I bought it. I'm just curious how many Hot Wheels made.

Just to be clear and avoid confusion, it appears there are multiple scales being discussed concurrently in this thread. Everyone except Rob and Steve (Safe4now) are talking about 1:64 scale. Rob and Steve appear to be disucssing larger scale 1:18. All the books shown appear to be 1:64 specific.

Rob, in the 1:64 scale there were yellow and silver variants of the paint scheme shown in post #7. The silver arent true to life replicas of your paint scheme but your car (or a livery similar to it) was the starting point for that design. Hot wheels rarely replicates exactly a race livery identical to the historical cars in the 1:64 scale. I particularly like the "Assitalia" label, clearly to avoid getting permission or licensing for the Alitalia brand. Many many thousands of 1:64 produced like this.

However, they do a pretty good job of historical accuracy in the 1:18 scale. Quantity produced much lower as well.
