I just wish the motorcycle owners around the country shared the same philosophy as you do. There are about 10 to 1 loud motorcycles to loud cars/trucks/airplanes etc. AND absolutely nothing is being done about it.

That’s a really nice little airport. I love it. A couple of years back I flew out of SNA to Atlanta and wound up sitting next to Chip Foose. He had his sketch pad and pens and was working on wheel designs the whole flight.

I drive my cars (430 Spider and previous R8 Spyder) to work a couple of times a week. There is a US Bank branch in the building. One Saturday afternoon as I was leaving, there were a bunch of kids ogling my R8, telling how awesome it was. I said "you should see my other car " and one asked is that black Ferrari yours too? I said yep....he almost fell over and said "damn!! Do you own the bank"?

I experienced my strangest interaction so far. This weekend was our FCA chapter's big annual event. It's part of the local Italian festival and we do a number of things including showing our cars on the main street of Little Italy on two nights.

On Friday night I was near my car for a bit and people were asking me questions. In the middle of this, a woman comes up to me and says she wants to do a photo shoot with a Ferrari for her 50th birthday. She continues to say it must be a red one and she will be posing in her bikini. She also adds that she posed for playboy 25 years ago and thinks she still looks good in a bikini (probably right). She says "Of course I will pay you. Do you have a card?"

Trust me, I am someone who is seldom lost for words, but WTF do you say to that? Luckily there was a couple who had already asked to see the engine, so I told her to wait a minute while I showed it to them. I took my time pointing things out in the engine bay until she eventually moved on.

Afterwards, I'm thinking, how do explain that to your wife. "Oh honey, I'm off to do a little photography with a biniki clad woman. Don't worry, I'm getting paid."

I would have quoted $500 plus $2 a mile and my wife will be there as my assistant. It could have been a good gig. (pro photographer in a past life).

Meanwhile there's some woman commenting on a bucket list forum: "I offered to pose in a bikini on his car and the guy was more interested in telling people about his engine than talking to me! Ferrari guys are such jerks!" :)

This isn't a funny or stupid comment, but it was a very nice one.

Yesterday I was at Tutto Italiano which is an event for all Italian makes of cars and motorcycles at Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline. A young man came up to me as I was near my 2008 612 Scaglietti OTO and said, "You were at the Stow, Mass. auto show 5 years ago". I smiled and said that I have been there several times but I didn't remember if it was 5 years ago. He said he was 17 at that time and really admired my car (but he admires all Ferraris and wants to own one some day) so he approached me to talk about it.

He said we talked about the car and he was so thrilled that I invited him to sit in the car. I had no recollection of it, but I always let kids sit in my car, plus I don't remember s*** anyway. We talked for quite a while and then he found a photo he took of my steering wheel and dash when he sat in the car. He said he had a photo of him in the car, but he changed phones and he lost some of his photos.

So my response, "OK, get in"! :D

Having owned one I can tell you that the McLaren definitely gets more attention than the Ferrari. I think my friend put it best:

Lamborghini is for the brash who demand lots of attention while Ferrari is for the refined gentleman - suave, elegant yet more unassuming.
McLaren is completely different and is like an alien spaceship tech.

In all honesty, its because a) VERY few if any McLaren are ever driven and b) outside of car enthusiasts almost no one has heard of McLaren in the US so when they do see one they wonder "what the heck is that car?" and what to sneak a peak.

Regarding reactions to my Ferrari since I have owned it for not even 2 weeks...Well its been non-existent lol. Most people ignore it. Not sure why but I don't mind.

The rosso corsa/tan 458 Spider still gets lots of attention. Some experiences the last few days...

A young man comes up to me and asks: How do you like your Ferrari.
My (usual) answer: lt is the most fun l have ever had with my clothes on.
He says: My uncle has a 812 Superfast.
My reply: The engine is in the wrong place.
His response: l like your car better.

A guy in his 50s asks me how do you like your Ferrari?
My reply: It’s the most fun l have ever had with my clothes on.
His response: Glad to hear you haven’t been driving it naked.
My reply: l haven’t tried that. I think it’s against the law. :)

A middle aged woman comes up and says as l am locking my car with the top down and windows rolled up: That’s a beautiful car. Aren’t you worried someone will damage it with the top down?
My reply: Thanks but l have been doing this with my Ferraris for 20 years and haven’t had a problem yet.

At a gas station getting gas (duh) for my Testarossa. A 20-something pulls up fast in his car. "Is that a Ferrari Testarossa? Wow! I gotta take a picture" etc etc then he said: "There was a McLaren 650S on the road over there the other day. I never thought anything could top that until now!"

Brought a smile to my face.

Went out for ice cream with my wife and little guy the other day and across from the local ice cream spot was a Gallardo and younger guy was taking pictures of it. We rolled up and his jaw dropped and "Wow! Nice Ferrari!" He says as he stopped taking pictures and just stared as we pulled in the parking lot.

Had an interesting exchange with a couple 12 year olds when I went to pickup my kid from the library.
    Nice car!
    Thanks!
    How much did it cost?
I don’t even know, my girlfriend bought it for me.
    Are you a gold digger?
Damn right. It’s better than the other way around.
    Laughs
    Do you have an F40?
    No.
    Do you have a P1?
    No
    Do you have a Lambo?
Damn you guys have good taste. No, but almost bought one before I bought this car.
    Why didn’t you?
No specific reason, but it reminded me a lot of my Audi.
Cool. What other cars do you have?
    Audi A5 S-line.
    That’s nice too!
    Thanks. Take care, guys.

Went inside. Didn’t expect to see them again.
On the way out with my kid.

Can you do a burnout for us?
Naw, guys. There’s too many kids around here.
    They won’t mind.
Ya, but I’m the one who has to pay the ticket. Have a great day, guys! Gave them a couple revs of the Tubi.

Lol...it’s my standard answer when people ask financial questions that aren’t any of their business ;)
im married and my wife was anything but supportive of me buying this car, lol. Her priority is always travel.

If they ask what I do for a living, I tell them I’m in “waste management “ and give them a dead-eyed Tony Soprano stare :)
With both responses, they usually look back with that “not sure if serious “ expression lol
