Had the good fortune to see this beast at the Rodeo Drive Concours on Fathers Day. Thanks much Scott for bringing it out and sharing the restoration process here on F-chat. What a beauty. Your work has produced a great result. The color really does shift depending on your angle and how the light hits it. Thanks for the kind words Kevin and the pictures. I see in these pics the drivers side front latch is not engaged, oh well... The show was a blast and the car had a GREAT time, it was the little cars first time out and it was fun to share with others. Now back to the shop for a bit more work on some odds and ends to get ready for Quail in August. here are a few pics I took. Scott, what an amazing result, truly reflective of the extensive and monumental investment of time, resources and effort undertaken by you and your team. Sadly I had a commitment conflict and was unable to attend...I would love to have seen your beautiful BB in its finished form! Maybe next time.
i thought mine had an extensive renovation..... this is probably the finest bbi i have ever seen. congratulations !
Thanks Ross, I had a lot of help... still a bunch of stuff thats not correct, we will do one last big push before Pebble Beach this year and see if we can get all in order.
For all you guys that might have rusted out exhaust systems or perhaps not factory exhaust Tubi has been authorized by Ferrari to re-manufacture the original stock exhaust. I took delivery and put the system on my car, the fit was perfect and it has all the original markings and Ferrari logos as per original. Its beautiful, this photo does not do it justice or show the color well, its more of a gold color. The exhaust is being stocked by Ferrari or you can order directly from your Tubi representative. my car has what i thought was a stock exhaust. but the guy who did the complete mechanical overhaul on it in geneva a few years back said that there were several options for the exhaust, and he had not seen that particular one before. perhaps there were different ones for different markets depending on exhaust or noise restrictions. does anybody know?
Only one exhaust was made for each of the version of the car. If you have a BBi this would be the stock exhaust for the car regardless of market.
Here is a screen shot from the video showing accurate finish and color. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The clamshell hinge bolts are too long and should be painted black. Replace the silicone tubing on the rear harness to the left tail light and fogs. Rear upper harness across the clamshell isn't attached correctly either and the band clamps on the air ducts should be yellow zinc not right out of the bag from Trutlands. P-clip on silicone tubes is too large. Harness for fog lights on rear bumper shouldn't be visible like that. Pin on BBi emblem should be blacked out. Sorry Scott but far from accurate unless you're referring to the muffler can.
Paul thanks for the help, you know every detail which is awesome and amazing. I will implement these changes, still a bunch of stuff to tighten up before Monterey. But yes for this pic I was referring to the muffler can.
Working on a million pick up items getting the car ready for Quail in Pebble Beach next week. Paul thanks for all the call outs we are working on them as well as multiple other items. A little progress. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
A few more hard to find items as well as freshly coated band straps. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
And the best part, the cross members on the hood are no longer black, which is great! It was driving me crazy. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Huge thanks to Steve for letting me have some of his precious rear deck foam. Defenetly one of those impossible to find materials. Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is a pic of what the original foam looks like, most cars have lost it over time due to deteriation. Image Unavailable, Please Login
