I wouldn't recommend using the original system because its design is flawed and will stall anyhow. The motor for pushing the cable through the pipe just isn't strong enough. I installed a manual solution in my Mondial T a year ago with a leather belt for pulling the glass up and down. Will never fail :)

    Stekkefun4,
Can you please provide more information on how you did this and can a manual system be done for the front windows?
    Thank you

In fact, it's extremely simple but efficient. I simply removed the motor and the cable from the faulty original assembly and attached a leather strap to the bar that goes up & down. This strap goes up and over the side covering to attach it to the buckle next to the rear seat. I'll send some pics later on.

    Stekkenfun4,
I don’t follow how you attached the step to the windows. How does the window stay up and is locked in so someone can’t slide it down?

As you can see a strap that attaches to the buckle at the bottom.
It's attached to the vertical bar of the assembly on which the glass is attached.
