If you can get that car up to spec, you will have a fantastic car there... good luck with it! Forza Ferrari

Cool! Shocks are the biggie from what I've heard...

FYI you can repair any bodywork with a rivet gun and some used aluminum. ;)

Yes, I know what you mean. However, I never liked the looks of either. No like = no passion. But love the 456. :)

Read about the driveline.:( The torque tube is interesting. I liked the car, but that faded fast. The automatic transmission takes too much away from a Ferrari V-12, IMAO

I would agree with this, the automatic makes this even more of a Grand Tourer then it already is. To me the 456M is a cruiser through and through, a car that you take to a formal event with the option of 2 kids. Much better choices if you're looking for a 'sports' car. I also agree the 456 is a beautiful car, and subjectively, I prefer it to the 550/575.

Agree about the GT, and Grand it is (for Touring as well, not really a sports car to me). :)

Always a backup plan to me - replacing with non-adjustable shocks. The Mondial t Coupe I tried to buy several years ago was a perfect example to "hot rod" and part of the plan was to eliminate the OE shocks.

Good luck on your project. I really think you do a great job on those videos. You are proving that you can do many repairs on the older cars yourself. If the YouTube career doesn’t work out you could be an independent! It’s like you have a video resume already. All you need is a workbench. (Just kidding - it seems you do so much work on the ground or in your kitchen.) I can’t wait to see how this comes out.

I too am looking forward to the results. It is a beautiful car which makes the point that certain colors make the car and your colors certainly do (I have seen it in other colors and it is not as appealing).

However, I also recognize that you need to have special skills/patience for a project like this. For most of us this would be a disaster and to make it into what it originally was as a $200K car would probably take the injection of about that much money again. So it will be interesting to follow along and see how you feel about it in the end.

Now, if you really want to turn this into a project, why not make it a cabriolet? Here is a very interesting article and be sure to look at the photo gallery at the end (the car in the article is absolutely gorgeous—oh, did I mention I like red!). ;) If nothing else, do the wheels!

I'm fortunate enough to own the other cars so this was purposely bought for the 2+2 and to be fair the Auto is not to bad. I could have lived with a gated box though :D:D

Ha ha ha thanks, yes the garage floor or kitchen worktop often get used. Part of that is on purpose because I do want to show most DIYers that you don't need a fancy garage, lift or special tools to do the majority of jobs on these cars.

I really like the 456 as a convertible, or even the shooting brake that the Sultan had built. As regard the wheels I do like originality and the 456 is quite a strange one for me to find an aftermarket wheel that looks right, Ive yet to see one. The lines don't suit the upgrade from 17" to 19". As I said in the video I like the rears, they works with the car but the convex v concave centres front to rear lose something to me. Ideally if I could work with a wheel company what I would like to do it get them to make the rears in an 18" or even try a 19" same design and then change the fronts very subtly to make them work again in an 18". The goal would be that it was virtually unnoticeable and but just looks right.
