Mice will bring food from neighboring lots to store up in the quiet shelter of your place. I’ve found bird feed (and don’t ever buy or set it out), and plant seeds from garden beds of my own, in my motorcycle and vehicle exhausts in the spring when started. I’ve taken to putting copper chore boys in the exhaust pipes to keep them out of there. Traps around my structures and spray peppermint oil also seem to help. I’ve trapped 60 mice in as many days before.

Thirteen striped ground squirrels, and mice...We’ve had two nests built in our air intakes, then I made a shield for one. Squirrels covered the entire top of my wife’s engine with dried grass one day while she was at work.

Mow low around your structures, don’t keep wood piled up near the house, remove all debris that provides shelter for mice. Be kind to hawks owls and snakes. Get a cat. But most of all trap, trap, trap. Fresh peanut or sunflower seed butter with popcorn embedded in it is my best bait.

They will chew thru a rubber or leather shift boot, cabin vent flaps, and rubber grommets, to access shelter. Will make bedding out of carpet, wire insulation,. You have to be vigilant about keeping them at bay in some places.

Or maybe chipmunks. They forage for seeds. Any poop spotted? Chipmunks usually maintain an off-site bathroom.

I drove my Morgan about 10 miles to a car show at Barber late winter.
When I raised the bonnet, I found mother mouse and several babies in the tool tray.
    They can be anywhere!

CATS. They are good for much more than just being cute little monsters that melt your heart on a daily basis...but they keep the critters away. I live in the pseudo-country, have indoor cats and don't worry at all about mice in the house or the garage. Their scooped litter goes in the garage trash, so they keep their distance. I've also went as far as to sprinkle litter around the house. No mice also keep the snakes away, for the most part.

I had a bit of a mouse problem when I first moved into my house. (in one of the garages)

Started out with traps. Not much happened there.

Then made a 'bucket trap' with a ramp, peanut butter and a soda bottle. Got 8? In one night.

Finally heard them in the wall one night, stripped back the interior paneling and after getting them out of the garage, realized that whoever put a hole in the base board for the electrical conduit dropped a 2.5-3" hole saw through for a 3/4" conduit. Mouse superhighway.

Plugged the hole with steel wool and expanding foam, no problems since.

Also would add that there were several "mouse repellent" high frequency sound devices plugged in. Did not matter.

So, what I'm trying to say is, trapping is good but I don't think you will find a final resolution until you find and block off their entry path.

Purchase a car bag. And then set a bunch of traps in your garage. Mice will stop at nothing to make your car their motel. Keeping your car in a car bag makes it harder for them, and as they scurry around looking they smell the bait in your traps...:)

Guaranteed fix. Two step process. Works 100% of the time.

    Isolate and annihilate.

Once they can not come in. Things get very easy. And it's a permanent solution. (Usually)

But you must stop the intrusions. Their comings and goings must end. ... It will also end the otherwise endless trappings. And protect your property.

    Try it. It works.

    Honest.

you should buy some of mice or rat sticky trays and place them in your garage next to any door openings they work great are non toxic and will catch most things that get into the garage... I have found several snakes and mice in mine over the years .... keeps them from getting to the cars ........I buy them at home depot or Lowes

Mice attacked the ht leads on my wife’s Mercedes GLA. The tech they sent said mice love Mercedes electrics, something about linseed oil in the rubber they use for insulation. New loom £700/$850. Few months later, little sods been at it again. Two got obliterated by shotgun, great shots!, several in traps, but I know they will be back, so this time, tech just soldered the damage, knowing a new loom is another couple attacks away!

    I smell a rodent.

They hate fabric softener sheets. They make your car smell good but rodents hate them. They used to munch my paper filters. No more.
