The Ferrari Testarossa is expensive again https://autoweek.com/article/classic-cars/ferrari-testarossa-expensive-again
Good article. Like I've said many times, the Testarossa has gone from.. Oh....soooo 80's....soooo Miami Vice to Ooooh....so 80s! ....so Miami Vice! I remember when I first came into this section in 2002 that was ruled by the boxer girls. I proudly proclaimed ....I bought a Testarossa because I love Miami Vice! Yes, I was laughed at, shunned....even the fellow Testarossa owners were like....can we leave that image behind please. At the time you couldn't give away a white Testarossa and now it's the most sought after. Yep, times have changed. In the future when you can't get spare computer modules for your 458, the original mechanical Testarossa will still be on the road running. Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice! Actually, I agree with you. I passed on two perfect condition white Testarossas because I wanted red. Now, I'm passed the whole nubie red Ferrari thang, I wouldn't mind a white one. I still remember back in the day when scale details bought a silver Testarossa and had the car ground up repainted in white. Seriously??....who paints a Testarossa white on purpose lol Shamile ,Freeze....Miami Vice! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
So, compare and contrast that article with this one from literally a week ago... Where is the market, really? https://www.hagerty.com/articles-videos/articles/2019/06/19/6-classic-vehicles-sliding-in-value Sent from my Moto Z2 Play using Tapatalk
Crock of ****. Find me ONE condition 1 concours quality 512 TR for 166,000. ONE! These articles are written by VW Golf driving cubicle dwellers who couldn’t afford the tire on one of these cars, Pure fiction. Just check DuPont today. Not one 512 TR listed less than 210,000 and that’s for a condition 3 driver. You’re telling me people are selling these cars for 60,000 dollars less than Ask? What a total load of horse ****. Hagerty article good to wipe your ass on and that’s about it.
I bought a Testarossa purely because of my love for the car that started with Miami Vice. I could buy a 512TR but Crockett didn't drive a 512TR was my reasoning. I hope to add a white single mirror car in the future. I didn't buy this car or any of my others as an investment, but we all know 3 pedal Ferrari's have a special place in the market and nice examples will hopefully continue to rise.
Dude! I went out to Copart in Van Nuys to put eyes on that car for a fellow Fchat member. This was after ScaleDetails had it. It was filthy, dead battery and a salvage title. I had a guy bring over a battery cart and she fired right up without issues. It must have been a theft recovery because there was nothing wrong with her besides the dead battery. No dents, flood damage etc......mystery.
I dunno, their business is insuring classics. If there's one group who I think would know their stuff about values, it'd be them? Sent from my Moto Z2 Play using Tapatalk

My car is currently insured by Hagerty. You actually tell them the value of your car, and then they adjust the premium price accordingly. It’s more of a risk assessment of the driver than of the car’s value, per se. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Yeah I use them too. If I just paid 200k for a 512TR, I'd insure it for (at least) that much, right? I wouldn't do an agreed value of, say, 160k on a car I actually paid 200k for. That logic makes me think hagerty is more correct on prices and trends. And just keep in mind, the Dupont registry's asking prices do not equal their selling prices. I'm 41 and the TR was pretty much my childhood car. I even still have my posters and die casts and hot wheels. I feel I was ahead of my peer group in buying one though. Bought it at 36. I expect to see more posts in the next ten years similar to what we see that say "finally bought my dream car."
I bought my TR last year at age 36. It was on my wall as a kid in early 90s. Models of it, posters etc. too young to have known about miami vice. My childhood tr’s were red, and my age group is next demographic to start buying. Vice group has blown their load lol
Think about it. 160k is 20 pct off of 200k. 20 pct isn't that deep of a discount. The seller of mine came down about 25 pct to sell my TR to me. Sent from my Moto Z2 Play using Tapatalk
I had two cats that absolutely loved the opening music and credits. They would park in front of the TV totally fascinated. But now you guys have got me thinking about iconic cars and TV shows. I just bought a TR, so Miami Vice of course Shamile. I have three Trans Ams, so I'm constantly reminded of Knight Rider. Going through the closets, found some forgotten Hawaiian shirts....................for the next car, do I purchase a 308? 328?
