I’m a newbie here (most time in rennist) and I’m in the market for my first ferrari..my comfort budget is $230k ..I do own Porsche GT4, 991C4S and 993C2S. Now I do want to add Fcar in my garage ...still decide between 2014 458 spider and 2014 F12.

I need some advise from you guys . Thank you

totally two different cars... so this is going to be your decision for sure, i love my 458 spider, but have been thinking about the 812, so mine may be up for sale soon enough, on another note i am not sure if i will miss the convertible...

    A magnificent V12 or a shaking spider - no question, 100% V12 :D

You already have a mid engine sports car... so i'd go F12

I'd like to add myself to this thread looking for the same feedback. If an investment pans out the way I think it should, I hopefully will be faced with a similar choice. I have been somewhat fortunate with my previous vehicles, in several cases taking very little loss (or making money) when selling them. While I do not expect that to happen often and also do not buy cars as investments, it is always a nice surprise to not face shocking depreciation. As a first Ferrari, are there any other opinions on a 458 vs F12? And if you had to speculate on value retention, would that affect your decision?

F12 is more of a touring GT, 458 is a sports car. I would never give up my 458 for an F12 but I sure would like to add a front engine V12 Ferrari to the mix.

You own Porsche sports cars, go with a front engine V12 GT for the different driving experience. If you didn't own the C4S and GT4, I'd go with the 458 Spider. Open top motoring in a mid-engine screamer was a great ownership experience for me.

There are some very valid points here... you own 2 mid engine cars and to add a GT would be ideal to have different experiences. It could be you like you mid engine cars over GT cars. Me personally I don't care for GT cars so my vote is the 458 spider. I say drive both and see how you feel about them. I would love a mid engine v12 that wasn't as expensive as a laf, that would be homerun.

Drive both and choose what you like. The 458 Spider has too much cowl shake for my taste, and you already have your GT4 which is a great mid engined car.
Personally, I'd choose the F12 in your case. And if you find the F12 is a wee bit too soft, it's a car that will take well to a more sporty suspension setup.

Ultimately, you need to decide. It's like walking into a high school cafeteria and asking everyone if they prefer pepperoni or sausage pizza... and why.

Given the other cars that you presently own, go with the F12 (I own both).

    Good luck.

Do yourself a favor and drive both! Just like when you buy a house, after seing a bunch of them your will know exactly why you will buy one and not the others.

If you think it’s solid try the McLaren and then the Ferrari feels like a jelly mould

Or try a GTB - the difference is noticeable (unless in a straight line on a perfect tarmac)...

The 458 spider is the last V8 NA and now the last V12 NA is on the 812
For a perfect pleasure and and best investment the V8 atmo is the best choice and
sure in the next few years a collector and prices that will go up

Like most are saying, I’d venture to the F12. Will probably hold it’s value better too.

As for the comments of the F12 being a GT - no it has nothing to do with a Bentley, driven properly the F12 is a real sports car. A spider with questionable stiffness is actually more a GT car (and actually used as such by most) in my view; for me character is about efficiency and performance, not drama and showing off (no personal attack here, just an opinion ;) )

Love the Spyder every time behind the wheel ......sexy car crazy sound with the top down. GT cars you can drive them hard, and the Spyder is a refreshing break. Good luck.

Last n/a V12 on the 812 is definitely not what I've been told. I also know of someone who's been told both locally here and in Maranello that the 812 successor will be n/a.
The n/a v12 is a very important icon for Ferrari. I don't think it will go anywhere any time soon. Hybrid maybe, but not forced induction.
