Any ideas? Not sure if I should replace the sensors on the actuator. Can it be that the actuators just need to be rebuilt? Help!

    Hi John,
Have you the latest WSM? PM me an email address if not and I’ll send it to you.
A couple of thoughts.... if the clutch is original and actually on 40k, the pressure plate could be tired.
Are you sure the grinding isn’t genuinely mechanical ie synchro related or do you currently believe the clutch is dragging?
With the xdiag you can graph the clutch position whilst driving so does that tell you anything?

A wear index that low also suggests the clutch is grabbing. That might confirm your theory that it’s not fully opening.

I don’t think the clutch is dragging but I will try and graph it.
I do believe it has to do with the delta gearbox/actuator centering value. When it was at -79 the grinding happened more in 3rd and as I played around with the new clutch value and reset wear index I was able to get it to -49 the grinding would happen in 5th and 6th

Why would the grinding move? It seams as if the actuator is not engaging the gear selected properly and grabbing two gears or something.
I’m assuming that the delta gearbox centering is calculated by the two sensors on the actuator. Could it possibly be the actuator maybe needing a rebuild?

I thought you had taken your actuator to pieces already?
Follow the WSM procedure for aligning it and see what value that come back with. Apols if that is what you’ve been doing already?

The one that I took apart was the one that was in my car. I should be getting new seals next week. It had major leaks so I installed a spare one I had.
I went through all of the centering procedure and ended up with -79. That’s when I starting to play around with the PIS and wear index. I’ll take a look at the new WSM
BTW. I sent you a pm.
    Thanks

Thanks mike. So I’m not that far off. I thought it was supposed to be closer to 0

It depends how reliable the Launch reading is also.
I’ll check an SD printout I have but it’ll be awhile before I’m back.
Have you any old records you can check?
