My speedometer and odometer have stopped working. I replaced the speedometer sensor at the transmission with another used one that I had, but no change. Although it's possible that it was bad too? However what is the next step in the flowchart of diagnosis?

    Thanks in advance,

    Aaron

Can you check the face of the old sensor for wear?

I did notice that the faces of the sensors looked different. I didn't realize they ran so close as to actually wear.

On mine I had the same symptoms. Speedo and odometer stopped working. New sensor did not work either.

It was the gearbox intervals that were the issue, hence checking for any wear marks on the sensors. I didn't know this and continued to drive the car. Now the gearbox is being rebuilt.

I this happened to me agai, and new sensor didn't cure the issue I would drain the oil and check the magnetic drain plug for debris.

Well I just happened to have changed the trans fluid this weekend and there were no surprises inside.

After my experiences it'd be nice to see no wear marks on the sensor, just for peace of mind.
