    J. Read your blog March 1 2019 after years of trying all to lose 20-30 lbs. Then read Delay Don’t Deny on IF. A huge game changer for me. Down 20lbs in 2 1/2 months and feel great. Thanks for the eye opener on how our bodies work. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Try not to eat until you’re hungry— no breakfast and only a dinner.

    it's very easy for beginners.
Just skip breakfast and try to keep your "eating window" at aprox 8 hours.
So you only eat between 12am - 8pm.

Internmitted Fasting is howeevr becomming less and less of a trend.
All the so called "health benefits" have been debunked.
The mythical claims of 'autophagy" (cleaning up 'dead cells") were nothing more than wild claims.
Every research that's been done lately on intermitted fasting and all the various claims seem to point that the diet is just "nothing special and does not have any benefits compared to traditional caloric ristriction diets".
The trick with Intermitted Fasting is that users simply consume les calories. that's the reason why people loose weight.

HOWEVER, if IF is a viable and sustainable long term diet/life style plan for you then by all means do it!

Again all the research also very clearly shows that the most succesull weight loss strategy is the one each individual user can sustain long term.
If that's Fasting, Low Carb, Low Fat, traditional caloric restriction, they all work similar.

try to find out what you like to do/eat and stick with it.

There is no Magic Bullit for eating plan and there never will be and Fasting certainly isn't.

    Yeah sorry, I use a different 24hour system. So between 12:00 - 20:00.
Aka 8 hours of eating, 16 hours of not eating per day.

As an added bonus I do want to add that training when fasted has also been shown NOT to be optimal for muscle growth/recovery and thus perfoance.
If you do IF and want to work out, amke sure your workouts fall into the eating window.

It's awesome several channels like to get all sciencey about various increases in testosterone and growth hormance and a bunch of otehrgrowth factors when you train fasted. Yes, they do increase... HOWEBVER these do not yield real world results.
If you work out in the morning and don't eat before because it upsets your stomach, then please continue. But try to eat right after the workout.

Watched a great video by Dr Mike on this very topic. He clearly went through the rationale for bulking and cutting alternating.

Again, this channel has the potential to become very, very big as they know exactly what the questions are people tend to ask a lot/want to know.
They love to debunk bro science.

All of this is spot on. Weight loss is ALL about calorie intake so losing weight is about doing what you feel comfortable sustaining over the long term. If it is something you are comfortable doing all of the time, it isn't a diet, it is a lifestyle. Thinking about eating as a diet implies that there is an end to your 'diet' and THAT is what drives the loss/gain cycle people complain about.

Exactly. @herness To be clear, the comments above are in general, they aren't directed at you. You have already taken the steps to get started and we respect that.
